“Dabbling” in crypto trading has led to unfortunate news and bad luck for a self-acclaimed crypto trading addict who has, since his public revelation, signed himself up for counseling.
Two years ago, a Reddit user named “Leatherface_opposite2135” stumbled upon the crypto trading world and became engrossed with cryptocurrency trading. In his long-since deleted post on Reddit, under the subsection “r/relationship_advice,” Leatherface confessed that he was about to lose his family as part of his punishments for being a crypto addict.
Leatherface wrote that he began cryptocurrency trading in 2021, and in just two years, he has seen the dark side and horrible effects that it does on one and everyone around them.
He confessed to being $180,000 in debt and possibly losing his wife and two kids due to his chronic crypto gambling.
According to him, the signs were not as evident when he began gambling, as his addiction barely affected his business life. He claimed to have joined several online networks like Discord which further immersed him in the gambling world and led him to his proverbial doom.
Leatherface claimed that he was surprised at the speed it took for him to owe over $180,000 debt as presently, his wife has threatened to leave him and take the house. In a year, he had lost $50,000 earned from his business on crypto trading.
“The second year, it ramped up as I was chasing debt. The last few months even faster, exponential really,” he said.
Leatherface noticed that his crypto-trading addiction was worsening when he struggled to get money from any source to gamble it all on his addiction. He stated that he funded his gambling through personal loans till his debt secretly rose to $180k.
“I’m sure you have heard it before, but I found all many ways to fund it, which included credit cards, personal loans, and lying about all of it,”
The married father of two narrated his experience with his addiction. He claimed to have gambled everywhere he went, on his phone, during work hours, spending a minimum of 10 hours daily on crypto trading. It was impossible not to get addicted when all the necessary resources were within his reach.
Leatherface announced that he confessed his debt to his wife three weeks ago and had to quit crypto trading cold turkey by handing over his accounts to her.
Conclusion
The fear of losing his family and almost $200k in debt has led Leatherface to seek addiction counseling. This is not the first story about crypto trading addictions, and recently, rehabilitation centers have begun including crypto addiction in their list of services provided to those in need.
