- Rarimo protocol has introduced a proof of humanity plug-in.
- The plugin is designed to assist blockchain-powered apps in distinguishing between actual, human users and AI bots.
- This invention has been hailed as a breakthrough because emerging innovations like AI, and on-chain games require some form of portable identity.
The Rarimo; the interoperability protocol for digital identities, has introduced a “proof of humanity plug-in,” the group claimed in a statement, with the goal of assisting blockchain-powered apps in distinguishing between actual, human users and AI bots.
The protocol partnered with unstoppable Domains, Gitcoin Passport and Civic to launch a Proof of Humanity plug-in for Web3 dApps.
Through the use of Zero-Knowledge proofs, this solution enables platforms to verify that users are humans instead of bots.
Rarimo’s Proof of Humanity features
Rarimo’s Proof of Humanity plug-in includes; interoperability which means all Proof-of-Humanities are instantly made available across all networks. This enables dApps and smart contracts on any chain to verify users ensuring that users are not restricted to a single eco-system.
The plug-in upholds privacy because the proof themselves are zero-knowledge. Users’ privacies are protected because no additional information from the users other than the fact that they are human is revealed.
The plug-in provides a seamless user experience because, with only a few additional clicks, users may select the identity provider they wish to use, generate proof and submit it to the platform they are on.
The plugin provides optionality allowing both users and platforms to choose which method of verification they are more comfortable with.
About Ratimo, Civic, Unstoppable Domains and Gitcoin
Rarimo makes the Web3 social layer and digital identities multi-chain. They create ground-breaking architecture and standards that will allow certificates, reputation, and identity state to be carried across chains, opening up use cases for identification that were previously difficult, costly, or not even conceivable.
Web3 domains created on the blockchain by Unstoppable Domains are available with no renewal costs, giving users complete ownership and control over their digital identity.
Unstoppable Domains allows users to log into and conduct business with hundreds of applications, wallets, exchanges, and marketplaces by replacing long alphanumeric crypto wallet addresses with a human-readable name. In 2022, Forbes recognized the business as one of America’s Best Startup Employers.
Gitcoin Passport is considered the best identity management tool to safeguard communities against Sybils and bots. Their API provides web3 communities with access to a strong layer of security.
Civic is a leading supplier of identity and access management solutions, enables users to effortlessly and secretly maintain their identities across chains. The company’s main product, Civic Pass, enables Web2 enterprises entering the blockchain space, smart contracts, and dApps to control access to protocols and services based on self-verifications or inputs from Civic’s Identity Verification (IDV) Services.
Rarimo has developed into the first verification aggregator for Web3 identities in the world as a consequence of the collaborations, offering a concrete application for blockchain technology in the fight against problems with digital identity brought on by bots, AI, and AI-generated agents.
Rarimo stated in a statement that “Proof of Humanity solutions are vital in building the trust necessary for digital spaces and communities to succeed, with the proliferation of AI exacerbating abuse from spam and bots across web3 dApps and services.”
Before being permitted to use digital identity services Unstoppable Domains, Gitcoin Passport, and Civic, Rarimo’s plug-in asks users to demonstrate that they are human.
Users’ Feedback
Lasha Antadze, co-founder of Rarify Labs and a significant contributor to the Rarimo protocol, stated that
“Rarify Labs is particularly excited about the Proof of Humanity solution because it provides an early glimpse into the future of Web3. Not only is AI making the need for robust online credentials urgent, but many of the space’s most exciting emerging innovations such as on-chain games and decentralized social media require some form of portable identity. Solutions like Rarimo’s Proof of Humanity aggregator that maintain privacy, and decentralization, and allow for a seamless user experience are early blueprints of what’s to come“.
The use of bots on established social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter has long been viewed as being extremely harmful. Many developers of web3 platforms want to increase the level of trust and openness in online interactions by exploring ways to end the practice.
