CryptoPunk #5944 sold for 980 ETH (around $1.3 million) on Saturday. This is barely a week after another sold for 3300 ETH. The NFT, which sold for 35 ETH ($12,354) on September 6, 2020, has now sold for 980ETH.
The previous owner of the NFT was @seedphrase, a CryptoPunk whale, which holds only 7 NFT with the attributes. Danny also sold his CryptoPunk 2924 for his 3,300 ETH earlier this week. The wallet now contains 19 additional of his CryptoPunks, 3 of which are for sale.
There are 88 zombie punks in the collection. The last Zombie sale took place on June 22 with 825 ETH ($1.08 million). This is the fifth Zombie Punk sale of 2022. The collection has sold for over $1 million US Dollars. There are currently 4 Zombie Punks for purchase, with the lowest listing at 1,420 ETH (approximately $1.86 million.
CryptoPunks is a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from 2017. Larva Labs is the primary company behind CryptoPunks. Larva Labs has generated over $100 million in sales in the last 24 hours.
On August 24, a Zombie CryptoPunk sold for 1,600 Ether (ETH). That is a whopping $5.3 million! The CryptoPunk, officially named #7252, is currently the 4th most valuable CryptoPunk on the market and ranks highest in the zombie category.
CryptoPunks is widely regarded as one of the first and most notable NFT projects ever created. It has a collection of 10,000 uniquely generated pixelated images. The CryptoPunks collection currently maintains a reserve price of over $100,000. The sales of the rarest “punk” comfortably exceed $1 million.

Revenue increased from $14 million on August 22 to $134 million on August 23. It returned to $47 million on August 25. A second peak occurred on August 28, when trading volume rose to an all-time high of $195 million. Since then, sales per day had plummeted to about $22 million, except for September 1, when it jumped to $40 million.
CryptoPunks Are Living It up Amid the NFT Hype
CryptoPunks is the pioneer of the NFT world. It was not the first NFT project but one of the few that have survived over time. There are only 10,000 CryptoPunk on the market. These were generated and claimed for free by users when the project first started in 2017.
The community buying and selling of the NFTs have also remained relatively small. Purchases from YouTubers such as Logan Paul, musician Steve Aoki, Jay-Z, and entrepreneur Gary Vee have put CryptoPunks in the spotlight.
The latest Bigwig player to jump into the CryptoPunks ring is not an individual but credit card giant Visa. The company purchased his CryptoPunk #7610 for about $150,000 on August 18.
