Spain has become the largest operational market in Europe for Sam Altman’s Worldcoin due to the project’s expansion in the country.
Spain was chosen as the next market to receive access to World ID, a privacy-preserving Proof of Personhood protocol.
Furthermore, the Tools For Humanity (TFH) team collaborated with two of the largest and most well-known tech associations — Tech Barcelona and Adigital.
Worldcoin Enables Users to Prove their humanity and Uniqueness
Spain grew to become one of Worldcoin’s largest and most important markets. The country has shown a strong interest in the AI sector and has made impressive progress in developing it since 2020.
The country is well on its way to becoming the hub of the AI industry in the European Union. However, with advancements in AI came the need to easily verify what online activity is the result of humans and what is the result of AI traffic. This is where Worldcoin and its World ID come into play.
World ID is a global identity protocol that uses Proof of Personhood credentials to enable humans to prove their uniqueness online. It is a tool that allows humans to stand out from the AI traffic, and it was first introduced in Madrid in 2022.
Over 150,000 Spanish citizens have signed up since then, and the project’s user base is growing by 20,000 per month. Spain has become Europe’s fastest-growing market for Worldcoin as a result.
Worldcoin now has operations in Barcelona, where it launched multiple Operator locations due to the project’s expansion to the rest of the country. This was necessary to support the project’s growing popularity in the city and throughout the country.
The Orb, a critical component of the Worldcoin ecosystem, will be featured in the new locations.
The Orb is the first custom biometric imaging device explicitly designed for Worldcoin by TFH. It can securely and safely verify uniqueness and humanness while protecting users’ privacy.
Worldcoin Continues to Grow Exponentially
Worldcoin has no intention of stopping here. As previously stated, the TFH team has joined Tech Barcelona and Adigital, allowing the project to take the next step toward national expansion.
Adigital and Tech Barcelona are committed to long-term digitization, catalyzing the tech ecosystem, and fostering economic development.
According to the project, there have also been numerous World ID sign-ups in Portugal. The figure surpassed 1% of the country’s population earlier in 2023.
