The Goobers Collection is an NFT set on the Ethereum blockchain that was launched on September 16th, 2021. Each Goober NFT permits its holder to obtain special perks, exclusive NFTs, and access to the Gooberverse.
The founder and CEO are Austin (DNP3). The rest of the team comprises PogoB, the CTO, SneakyBroArt as an artist, Riftbaby as a designer, and JRNY Crypto as an advisor.
Goober holders get different roles in the discord server depending on how many they own, but every holder has access to an exclusive channel where they host contests and post news.
They also have a neat storyline with their collection, called The “GooberTales.”
Each Goober has to venture out into the world to discover an item to serve as its brain in desperate hopes of avoiding capture by the mega-corporation, ChemiCo. Using different hats, outfits, accessories, and animations to cloak their identity in a silly but fashionable style, the Goobers use their newfound brain power to stay hidden in plain sight. There is more lore available about the collection on their website.
NFTs
There are 15,000 unique, randomized NFTs in the set, and they were created by the artist SneakyBroArt. All Goobers are animated and have diverse traits. There are 31 colors, 53 hats, 42 brains, 53 outfits, 44 accessories, 27 backgrounds, and nine animated effects.
The number of unique holders is lower than usual for NFT collections, with around 4.500 for a 15,000-piece collection, meaning that each holder has about three goobers on average. Fifteen wallets hold more than 100 goobers. The current floor is stable at around 0.07 but has seen two spikes above 0.2 in the past.
Besides Goobers, there are some more NFTs in their rewards collection, like, for example, The Refinery and an additional set called “Honorary Goobers.”
Holders can earn a discord currency called “Sludge,” which is off-chain. The more goobers they hold, the more Sludge they can earn daily. There are also weekly rewards for holders of The Refinery. A store was introduced on December 14th, 2021. This Sludge can now be exchanged for other NFTs from their community wallet, whitelist spots, or physical items such as Ledgers, Oculus headsets, Xbox, etc. You can view the entire list on their website.
Closing Thoughts
This project didn’t take off during the last bull run like many others have, but this didn’t stop the team from acquiring good partnerships and exploring different directions and possibilities.
In the beginning, the leading utility seemed to be the art itself, and many holders used their Goobers as PFPs. Then with the addition of Sludge Store, holders were given an excellent bonus utility.
Recently this was expanded even further, and they seem to be on the right track with the recent integration into the Gridcraft ecosystem.
