Blockchain Gamer and YouTuber Loses Funds in a Live Stream
Ivan Bianco, blockchain gamer and YouTuber, is the latest victim to lose funds to scammers. Through an unwitty experience, the Brazilian-based YouTuber lost $60k in crypto to scammers.
The unfortunate incident occurred on August 30 during a live-streaming event on Fraternidade Crypto, a YouTube page.
On August 30, Bianco started a live stream on YouTube where he spoke about Bitcoin and blockchain games. During the livestream, he tried to access his passwords to log in to Gala Games, a blockchain games platform.
He finally accessed the passwords through a text file saved on his computer, a file which also contained the seed phrase to his Metamask wallet. In that innocent attempt, he jeopardized the security of his wallet by mistakenly exposing his seed phrase during the live stream.
Upon discovering his error, he ended the livestream to check his wallet. But it was too late to access his Metamask funds as the scammer had already transferred his Polygon MATIC, worth $60k, out of the wallet.
Shortly after the unfortunate incident, Ivan Bianco started another live stream, crying as he claimed that one of its viewers had accessed his Metamask wallet and carted away 86000 MATIC worth $50,000.
“I accidentally showed my private key live, and the person had really quickly sent it to another address. I tried to close the broadcast and send crypto to another address, but I was too late,” Ivan Bianco revealed in an emotional video.
He shared the scammer’s address that transferred the crypto token from his wallet. He also revealed that 3.5 $ETH is stuck in someone else’s wallet on Arbitrum’s network.
Additionally, other small amounts of tokens were transferred out of his wallets by other users, according to the blockchain gamer.
In an email sent to Decrypt, the YouTuber confirmed that he lost $60,000 worth of crypto after the unfortunate incident.
Ivan Bianco contacted the local police and reported the incident to them.
“The police don’t understand much about this, so I think this will take time. I’ll have to look for it myself, together with the community,” Bianco said to Decrypt.
Following the incident, Bianco revealed that the scammer who stole the 86,000 MATIC had returned it to him.
The YouTuber claimed that he got a message on Discord where the unidentified user called him to apologize for his actions.
According to Bianco, after the call ended, the wallet transferred $50,000 worth of Polygon MATIC back to him.
He also refused to divulge the scammer’s identity to the public.
“I won’t say his name because the guy returned it, and there’s no reason for me to screw him, even though what he did was wrong,” Bianco said.
After the latest reveal of his incident, his fans expressed their doubt over the event’s authenticity, but the blockchain gamer refuted the claims.
While most of his stolen funds have been returned, the streamer is still waiting on $10k worth of NFTs and other tokens stolen in the incident. He said the scammers’ wallets are being tracked.
