Yuga Labs has hired Noah Davis, an auction house Christie’s NFT team member and an essential figure in the field, to be the project’s brand lead.
Davis announced the decision in a Twitter post, putting to rest any fears that the Punks’ future would follow a similar course as the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
The announcement was proof of a possible resurgence of CryptoPunks in the NFT world. The project’s original creator, Larva Labs, has taken little action to market it to the right people.
In a different discussion, a Yuga Lab co-founder stated that the project’s commercial rights would be handed over to its owners moving forward.
It’s possible that insiders were aware of the transaction before it was announced. Many collectors are buying up Punks in bulk over the preceding days, pushing the collection’s floor price to 66.65 ETH (about $69,000).
What Happens Now for Yuga Labs
Noah Davis is a big get for Yuga Labs, and it’ll be interesting to see where the Punks go from here. The move is a surprise, as Davis was previously a key member of Christie’s NFT team. He was responsible for helping the auction house sell millions of dollars worth of NFTs in a single day.
However, it seems that Davis is ready to move on from Christie’s and help Yuga Labs take CryptoPunks to the next level.
It will be interesting to see what he does with the project in the coming months. According to a thread on BitcoinTalk, he was behind Beeple’s renowned “The First 5,000 Days” NFT sale at Christie’s in March 2021. According to the discussion, he also serves as the leader of the Howlerz NFT project, which he will continue to lead while working for Yuga Labs.
