Ethereum ETFs Outpace Bitcoin Again – Here Is Why Investors Are Shifting Toward ETH Funds

  • Spot Ethereum ETFs attracted more than $103.9 million in weekly inflows, outperforming Bitcoin ETFs for the second consecutive week.
  • Bitcoin ETF trading volume fell to its lowest level for a full five-session week since October 2024, reflecting subdued investor activity.
  • Despite weaker trading, both ETF categories extended their recent inflow streaks, although they remain in net outflows for 2026.

U.S. spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds continued to outperform their Bitcoin counterparts last week, attracting significantly more new capital as Bitcoin ETF trading activity slowed to its weakest level in nearly two years.

According to data analyzed from SoSoValue, spot Bitcoin ETFs generated approximately $8.05 billion in trading volume during the week, marking the lowest total for a full five-session trading week since October 2024.

While Bitcoin funds still recorded modest net inflows, investor interest increasingly shifted toward Ethereum-based products.

Bitcoin ETF Activity Slows

Spot Bitcoin ETFs finished the week with approximately $33.8 million in net inflows, extending their positive streak to three consecutive weeks after ending an eight-week run of persistent outflows earlier this month.

However, most of the week’s early gains disappeared after investors withdrew more than $465 million during the final two trading sessions.

Trading volume also declined roughly 14% from the previous week as Bitcoin continued to trade near $64,000, well below the record highs reached late last year.

Among individual issuers, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust posted the largest weekly outflows, while Grayscale’s Bitcoin Mini Trust and the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF partially offset those withdrawals with fresh inflows.

Ethereum ETFs Continue Building Momentum

Ethereum ETFs remained the stronger performer for the second consecutive week, attracting approximately $103.9 million in net inflows—more than three times the amount recorded by Bitcoin funds.

The latest inflows extended Ethereum ETFs’ winning streak to three straight positive weeks.

Over that period, Ethereum products have attracted nearly $294 million, approaching the roughly $307 million added to Bitcoin ETFs during the same timeframe despite Ethereum funds managing substantially fewer assets.

The data suggests institutional investors continue increasing exposure to Ethereum at a faster pace relative to the size of the market.

BlackRock Leads Ethereum Demand

BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust accounted for the vast majority of new Ethereum inflows, bringing in approximately $96.3 million during the week.

Grayscale’s Ethereum Mini Trust also posted positive flows, while Fidelity’s FETH experienced modest net outflows.

Although Ethereum ETF trading volume slipped slightly from the prior week to around $2.78 billion, it remained relatively strong compared with the size of the category, representing roughly 35% of Bitcoin ETF trading volume despite Ethereum ETFs holding only about 13% as many net assets.

Recovery Continues, But Challenges Remain

Despite the recent improvement in flows, both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF markets remain in negative territory for 2026.

Bitcoin ETFs have recorded approximately $5.23 billion in net outflows since the beginning of the year, while Ethereum ETFs remain down roughly $1.15 billion.

Even so, Ethereum has emerged as the stronger performer in July, attracting more capital than Bitcoin as investors continue watching whether the recent shift in institutional demand marks the beginning of a broader market rotation.
