Claimed to be the first colorable NFT collection on the Ethereum blockchain, Crayzillas is an ambitious project run by team leads Jensen Tung, Velvet, and Vin. They [Crayzillas] are a 2,500 supply set and use Polygon technology to make the coloring process possible.
What’s happened so far?
The project experienced unfortunate setbacks on launch day (April 26 and 27). Initially, Crayzillas was intended to be a 7,777 supply NFT collection. However, after the events had unfolded the team decided to cut the supply to 2,500 (a more achievable sellout point/target which has not been hit yet). What were those events? To summarize, Crayzillas’ OpenSea page was referred to as “Crayzilla V2” during mint. For that reason, the team decided to rename the collection to “Crayzillas” mid-mint. Unfortunately, OpenSea’s slow caching allowed scammers to create a new collection under the name that had just been changed. As a result, this temporarily directed people who clicked on Crayzillas’ “official” link to the fake collection.
Creative and Business lead, Jensen, says, “The fear of being scammed made people hesitant to mint. To ensure the safety of our community, we briefly paused the mint as well. We were able to take down the scam collection and reopen mint shortly after discovering the OpenSea exploit, but by then, the momentum of our mint had been negatively affected.” To make things right, the team immediately responded by: (a) refunding/reimbursing scam victims and (b) rewarding those who held and bought before the snapshot by airdropping exclusive golden crayons.
What’s the team doing now?
At the time of writing, the team is developing the coloring desk – an application that gives holders the ability to use their crayons to color in their coloring page(s). “We are close to completing the Colouring Desk and will be immediately announcing its release once it’s 100% done. We are currently in the testing and polishing phase,” said Jensen.
What can we expect soon?
After the coloring desk is finished, the team will redirect their attention to the following*: implement a staking mechanism; option to recolor one’s Zilla; allow holders to mix/create new crayon colors; build their rarity site; drop physical merch and toys.
