Archie Comics is testing blockchain technology to generate art and storylines for fans to customize, as well as Archie-themed NFT compilations.
The “Archiverse: Eclipse,” a new blockchain-based writer’s room, was created by the creators of Disney’s Snow Queen, Laura Braga and Vincezo Federici, in collaboration with Palm NFT Studio.
Archie Comics Joins the Metaverse
The Archiverse, according to the firm, will enable Archie Comics fans to script the future of their favorite characters through generative storytelling. Its writer’s room actively seeks out and encourages folks to come up with new stories for their favorite characters. Included creators who meet certain standards will be paid directly and given story credit in later comic book series.
A blockchain writer’s room differs from other writer’s rooms in that only NFT owners have access to and can contribute to content production.
After the success of Riverdale and the rise of blockchain technology, Archie CEO Jon Goldwater recognized that the company needed to find the right partner and platform to deliver Archie 3.0, and that “we cannot wait to introduce the gang to a whole new audience in a whole new way.”
A Collection of Archie Brands Coming Up
A PFP project inspired by “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” – a series published by Archie Comics’ Archie Horror brand – will provide the debut of Archie 3.0 with an NFT drop.
Mythic: During the May 16th eclipse, Mythic will launch its own NFTs, known as “Eclipse NFTs,” which will be available for trading on May 16th, the night of a Blood Moon. 6666 generating characters and 3000000000 outcomes will challenge collectors to crack an “ominous” prophecy.
Palm NFT Studio is not a Web3 newbie. It has recently begun an NFT project with Warner Bros. “The Bat Cowl Collection,” a hundred thousand unique 3D-created Batman cowl NFTs from DC Comics Consumer Products.
Comics Joining the Metaverse
We’ve seen comic book publishing giants Marvel and DC enter the meta fray in hopes to create a fresh experience for the fans. While a lot of people are still unfamiliar with how NFTs work, the creators behind the collections are planning to make transactions simplified. Turning beloved comic characters into NFTs is one way to make it extra special for long-time collectors – both physical and digital pickers. Converting characters into NFT collections will provide plenty of options for buyers which include a variety of one person or venues.
For example, the Marvel NFT collection of Spider-Man generates different versions of the friendly neighborhood spider. These are limited, meaning prices get higher as the supplies go lower. One NFT is one unique brand that you and only you will own while others possess a special creation as well.
Archie Comics has been part of the mainstream comic book crowd for decades so it’s no surprise to see them hop into the NFT trend. Fans will be able to collect various versions of iconic characters including Jughead, Reggie, Betty, Veronica, Moose, Dexter and Archie himself.
