In an exciting development, Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence division of Alibaba Group, has partnered with layer-1 blockchain Avalanche to create Cloudverse, a metaverse launchpad for businesses. The partnership was announced at the Avalanche Summit II Conference in Barcelona, with the primary goal of providing businesses operating within the Alibaba ecosystem with a fast and seamless way to launch and maintain their metaverses.
A Groundbreaking Collaboration
At the heart of this partnership lies Cloudverse, a metaverse launcher designed to give businesses a cost-effective and easy-to-use solution for expanding their brands into the world of Web3. Avalanche, a blockchain optimized for supporting non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Web3 games, and Subnets, offers the technology needed for building metaverse spaces. On the other hand, Alibaba Cloud provides the computing and storage required for the launchpad.
A third partner, Metaverse Universal Assets DAO (MUA DAO), will act as the middleware, offering a service layer that helps integrate and customize the metaverses waiting to be built. This collaboration will enable companies on Cloudverse to access support, visualizations, interactive functions, and a wide range of features powered by Avalanche and MUA DAO.
Accelerating Web3 Adoption and Metaverse Development
This partnership signifies another significant step towards Web3 adoption for Alibaba, which has been actively exploring the potential of blockchain technology. In December 2022, the tech giant collaborated with Avalanche to deploy Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) on the platform, allowing Asia-based users to launch node validators and increase blockchain adoption in the region.
By providing a one-stop gateway into Web3 through Cloudverse, Alibaba and Avalanche aim to open doors for enterprises that might need more time or resources to launch their Metaverse platforms. The infrastructure offered by Avalanche’s Subnets, customizable application-specific blockchains built on top of the leading blockchain, will further assist in creating tailored blockchain solutions through Cloudverse.
John Wu, president of Ava Labs, believes that this partnership will enable Alibaba’s partners to be a part of Web3 by dedicating resources to make it easy for them to develop their SDKs on top of Avalanche’s existing solutions.
Empowering Businesses to Create Customized Metaverse Experiences
The Cloudverse platform is designed to provide an end-to-end solution for businesses to create and maintain their metaverse spaces, catering to their unique needs and requirements. With the support of Avalanche and Alibaba Cloud, companies can expect rapid deployment of their metaverse projects.
Emin Gün Sirer, the founder and CEO of Ava Labs, explained that with the technology offered, it is now “straightforward” to create a metaverse. All the tools are open-source, allowing anyone to have their metaverse up and running within hours. Builders on the Cloudverse will receive support for visuals, meta economics, interactive functions, events, and continued operations, with each metaverse space being ready for business about a month after initial outreach.
The partnership between Alibaba Cloud and Avalanche has the potential to revolutionize the way businesses interact with the metaverse, fostering innovation and new opportunities for customer engagement. With millions of potential builders now having access to a seamless gateway into Web3, we can expect a surge in metaverse adoption and an expansion of the virtual world as we know it.
