- Gemini announces its plans for a derivatives platform beyond the US.
- The services will not be extended to the United States.
- The US-based crypto exchange’s first derivative contract will be BTC.
The US-based cryptocurrency exchange is gradually making its intentions known about being bullish in 2023.
Gemini recently announced its plans to launch a new derivatives platform which will be introduced to several countries worldwide. Called ‘Gemini Foundation,’ it will enable users to leverage their crypto assets and trade derivatives and spot products.
On April 21, Gemini published its announcement about the upcoming derivatives platform, stating that the new platform will be available to people in Turkey, Nigeria, Singapore, Hong Kong, Argentina, Brazil, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, India, South Africa, Thailand, South Korea, Uruguay, Vietnam, Bhutan, Bermuda, Peru, Chile, New Zealand, Israel, El Salvador, Philippines, Egypt, Saint Lucia, Guernsey, Saint Vincent & Grenadine, and Panama.
The firm stated that the new platform would be restricted from all US users as this is suspected to be due to the uncertain and restrictive crypto regulations placed on all crypto firms in the country.
“Our first derivatives contract will be a BTC perpetual contract denominated in Gemini dollars (GUSD),” the firm said.
The ETH/GUSD perpetual contract was also confirmed to be a work in progress but will be revealed much later.
“Gemini Foundation will enable eligible clients to leverage their crypto assets to achieve long or short crypto exposure to produce returns, manage risks and gain exposure.”
According to Gemini, eligible users worldwide can carry out their trading schemes on a safe and trusted platform.
General Information on the Gemini Foundation
Despite not providing a launch date for its new project, Gemini indicated a few features that will be incorporated into the Gemini Foundation.
The crypto exchange has announced that there would be no fees associated with exchanging US dollars or US dollars coin (USDC) into Gemini Dollar (GUSD) to fund accounts related to the initiative.
All realized unrealized P&L and all payments related to the permanent funding would be reported in GUSD.
Recent Gemini Actions In The Crypto Industry
Recently, the US-based cryptocurrency exchange announced its plans to create an engineering hub in India.
On April 20, Gemini published a blog announcing that it would be expanding its global engineering and operations team with its new branch opened in India. A new engineering hub was recently established in India, which the company boasted will become the “second-largest Gemini engineering hub behind the US.”
Gemini guaranteed that their Indian office’s projects would be used by consumers and businesses in more than seventy nations.
The firm announced that it was actively looking for workers in specific fields within the region and directed those interested in following the India careers page.
Conclusion
The recent public announcement of Gemini has suggested to the crypto community that the firm will not allow its past incidents with the bankrupt crypto lender—Genesis—to hold it down from evolving and expanding its firm in the crypto industry.
