- Arthur Hayes predicts Ethereum will lead altcoins in the next breakout, calling it “ETH season.”
- Dom Kwok believes XRP could surpass Ethereum, citing stablecoin growth and ETF speculation.
- XRP’s low price and expanding utility may attract new retail investors ahead of altcoin season.
As crypto markets start buzzing with signs of an incoming altcoin breakout, a new debate’s heating up—could XRP actually challenge Ethereum’s throne?
Ethereum’s still the big name, no doubt. It’s got the backing of institutions, retail investors, developers—you name it. But lately, a few folks in the space are floating the idea that this time, XRP might have a serious shot.
Ethereum Season… Or XRP’s Surprise Play?
Arthur Hayes, the guy behind BitMEX, thinks ETH is gonna run the table. With Bitcoin hitting fresh highs already, he’s betting Ethereum’s next in line, riding a wave of strong volume and pretty bullish vibes. Hayes says if things stay on track, it’s shaping up to be another “ETH season.” Makes sense on paper.
But then there’s Dom Kwok, a crypto builder and ex-Goldman analyst, who’s sticking with a bolder take. He’s been calling for XRP to leapfrog Ethereum, and now he’s doubling down. According to him, a couple key moves—like the growth of stablecoins on XRP Ledger and whispers of XRP ETFs—could seriously flip the script.
The Underdog Advantage?
Kwok’s also hyped about RLUSD and USDC showing up on the XRP Ledger, which he sees as a big sign the network’s evolving fast. He’s comparing XRP’s potential ETF story to what happened with Bitcoin—huge price moves once the funds got greenlit. And while ETH sits in the thousands, XRP is still under five bucks, which might tempt a lot of retail folks looking for a cheap ride with upside.
So yeah, Ethereum’s still the second-largest coin by a mile, but the gap might not be untouchable. XRP’s got momentum, headlines, and arguably a growing use case. Whether that’s enough to unseat ETH? That part’s still up in the air.
But one thing’s clear: as altcoin season inches closer, both Ethereum and XRP could be in for some fireworks.
