Sorare CEO Says Solana Move Is an “Upgrade,” Not a Goodbye to Ethereum

  • Sorare is migrating its fantasy sports games and NFTs from Ethereum to Solana to boost scalability and performance.
  • CEO Nicolas Julia called the move an “upgrade,” emphasizing it’s not a full replacement of Ethereum.
  • Sorare will continue supporting Ether deposits and integrations through the Base network, keeping a multichain approach.

Sorare’s CEO Nicolas Julia has officially announced the company’s migration from Ethereum to Solana — but he insists it’s not a goodbye. Instead, he describes the move as an “upgrade,” pointing to scalability, smoother performance, and a faster user experience as the main motivators behind the transition. The company plans to bring more than ten fantasy sports games and their NFT cards to Solana by the end of October, setting the stage for what Julia calls the next phase of Sorare’s evolution.

✨ We are moving to @solana 🚀

Our goal is to accelerate our vision of an open & on-chain sports platform for Sorare, where speed, liquidity and utility are at a core of a new digital sports economy.

It’s not a replacement, it’s an upgrade

A Strategic Shift, Not a Replacement

After six years of building on Ethereum, Sorare made the call to move its ecosystem to Solana, citing the network’s improved speed and efficiency. Julia said Solana has matured into “the most viable chain” for Sorare’s ambitions, offering the scalability and performance that the platform needs as it expands globally. The decision follows a broader industry trend of Web3 platforms seeking faster, cheaper infrastructure without abandoning Ethereum entirely.

Keeping Ethereum in the Loop

Even as Sorare embraces Solana’s tech stack, the company remains firmly tied to Ethereum. Julia made it clear that users can still deposit Ether through the Base network, emphasizing that Ethereum continues to play a key role in Sorare’s infrastructure. He noted the platform’s ongoing Ethereum integrations and said Sorare is “still very bullish” on its long-term potential. Ethereum’s community strength and decentralization, he added, are still essential to the platform’s vision of a truly open digital sports economy.

Solana’s Edge in Speed and User Experience

Solana leads in every metric that matters, faster, cheaper, and more efficient.

The craziest part is that this isn’t even close to its full potential. ACCELERATE. pic.twitter.com/YoVcpkUO21

Sorare’s team believes Solana’s speed, low fees, and growing ecosystem make it a natural fit for scaling. Julia highlighted how Solana’s infrastructure has evolved to support consumer applications at scale, something Ethereum still struggles with due to congestion and higher gas costs. The CEO shared that this migration aligns with Sorare’s mission to create a seamless, on-chain sports experience for users—one that blends liquidity, accessibility, and digital ownership in a way that feels native to the next generation of Web3 gaming.
