  • Iran launched over 10 missiles at U.S. bases in Qatar and Iraq in retaliation for U.S. strikes on its nuclear sites.
  • Al Udeid Air Base was targeted; Qatar reports all missiles were intercepted with no injuries.
  • President Trump is reviewing options as tensions threaten to spiral into wider conflict.

Iran retaliated on Monday for the recent U.S. airstrikes against its nuclear facilities by launching multiple ballistic missiles targeting American military bases in the Middle East. At least 10 missiles were aimed at Qatar and another struck toward Iraq, according to an Israeli official. This marks a significant escalation in tensions following Saturday’s U.S. offensive.

Al Udeid Air Base Targeted in “Devastating” Strike

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed the missile assault, stating the number of missiles matched the number of bombs dropped by the U.S. over the weekend. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) specifically claimed responsibility for hitting Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, calling it the “largest strategic asset” of the U.S. military in West Asia. Despite the forceful language, Qatar reported its air defenses successfully intercepted the missiles, with no casualties or damage reported.

Qatar Condemns Attack, Urges Return to Diplomacy

Qatar, which often plays a mediating role in regional disputes, swiftly condemned Iran’s strike, calling for an immediate return to diplomatic talks. The Qatari Foreign Ministry emphasized that the missile barrage endangered regional peace and issued a formal rebuke, though it reiterated the nation’s commitment to de-escalation.

Trump’s Response in the Balance as Crisis Deepens

President Donald Trump was in a high-level security meeting with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine as the Iranian attack occurred. Trump previously warned that any retaliation would be met with overwhelming force.

Whether the situation further entangles the U.S. in the Israel-Iran conflict now hinges on the severity of Iran’s strikes and any American casualties.
