GorillaPool just introduced one of the more creative NFT mechanics the crypto space has seen in a while. Its new “Gorilla Canopy” collection automatically generates a unique fractal tree NFT every time the mining pool discovers a Bitcoin SV block, with each artwork built entirely from that block’s own on-chain data.
Instead of asking collectors to mint random profile pictures, GorillaPool ties the artwork directly to the mining process itself. The block hash, nonce, timestamp, transaction count, difficulty, and other blockchain variables all shape the final NFT permanently and deterministically.
Every Block Creates Different Artwork
The interesting part is that the visual differences are not cosmetic randomness. Dense blocks containing thousands of transactions generate much larger and more complex fractal canopies, while smaller blocks create simpler structures.
That means each NFT genuinely reflects the characteristics of the block that produced it. Same block data, same generator script, same artwork forever. The collection effectively turns mining activity itself into an evolving on-chain art archive.
Rare Mining Events Unlock Special NFTs
GorillaPool also added rarity mechanics tied directly to unusual mining outcomes. Blocks requiring unusually high mining effort generate “Canopy Bloom” variants, while consecutive mined blocks unlock “Golden Lightning” NFTs.
Legendary pieces can emerge from rare block heights, record transaction counts, or unusually large blocks. Meanwhile, orphaned blocks, which are normally losses for miners, produce special “Ghost” NFTs designed as spectral memorials for blocks that almost made it into the chain permanently.
GorillaPool Is Building NFTs Around Provenance
The NFTs are issued as fully transferable 1Sat Ordinals on BSV, though distribution to miners is still being finalized while GorillaPool develops compatible wallet infrastructure. A future marketplace is also reportedly being explored.
What makes Gorilla Canopy stand out is that the collection cannot really be manufactured artificially. Every NFT only exists because an actual block was mined, giving the project a cleaner provenance story than most NFT collections manage to achieve.
