Bitcoin Miners See Production Drop Again – Here Is What Hit July Output

  • CleanSpark, BitFuFu and Canaan all reported lower Bitcoin production in July for the second consecutive month.
  • CleanSpark mined 586 BTC, BitFuFu produced 112 BTC and Canaan recorded the steepest decline with just 46 BTC.
  • The production slowdown came even as Bitcoin recovered from around $58,500 to $62,800 during July.

Three major publicly traded Bitcoin miners recorded another difficult month for production, with CleanSpark, BitFuFu and Canaan all reporting lower BTC output in July.

CleanSpark produced 586 BTC during the month, approximately 5% below its 614 BTC output in June. BitFuFu’s production declined around 10% to 112 BTC, while Canaan experienced the largest contraction, falling roughly 28% from 64 BTC to 46 BTC.

Interestingly, the declines arrived while Bitcoin itself was recovering. BTC entered July near $58,500 and finished the month around $62,800 after suffering a much sharper selloff during June.

CleanSpark Produces 586 Bitcoin

CleanSpark’s lower production coincided with an approximately 9% decline in its average operating hashrate compared with June.

The miner produced an average of roughly 18.9 BTC per day and finished July holding 13,931 Bitcoin, maintaining one of the largest corporate BTC treasuries among publicly traded companies.

CleanSpark is also expanding beyond traditional Bitcoin mining. The company recently signed a $6.6 billion, 20-year data center lease with an unnamed technology company for its Sandersville, Georgia campus, highlighting its growing push into broader computing infrastructure.

BitFuFu Cloud Mining Output Falls

BitFuFu’s total production dropped from 125 BTC in June to 112 BTC in July as its overall hashrate under management declined around 7%.

However, its self-mining business actually improved slightly, producing 72 BTC compared with 70 BTC the previous month. The weakness came entirely from cloud mining, where production dropped from 55 BTC to 40 BTC.

BitFuFu also used some of its Bitcoin to make advance payments for future hashrate capacity. As a result, its BTC treasury declined considerably from 1,671 Bitcoin in June to 1,314 BTC at the end of July.

Canaan Records the Largest Bitcoin Mining Decline

Canaan experienced the sharpest production drop of the group, mining only 46 BTC compared with 64 Bitcoin during June.

Its operations have continued recovering from wildfire-related disruptions at the Alborz mining site in Texas, with the company reporting that its joint venture operations are gradually stabilizing.

Canaan ended July holding 1,917 BTC alongside 3,952 ETH. Management has also received authorization to sell part of the company’s crypto treasury if necessary to fund share repurchases.

Despite Bitcoin’s July price recovery, falling production across all three companies shows that higher BTC prices don’t automatically translate into stronger mining output. Hashrate availability, operational disruptions and changing capital strategies remain equally important for publicly traded miners.
