  • Architect Financial Technologies, led by Brett Harrison, gains NFA approval for institutional derivatives trading.
  • The company targets both cryptocurrency and traditional derivatives markets with a secure and compliant trading platform.
  • Architect Fintech is well-funded and backed by industry leaders, poised to redefine institutional trading.

In an exciting development within the financial technology sector, Architect Financial Technologies, a startup founded by the former president of FTX US, Brett Harrison, has garnered regulatory approval from the National Futures Association (NFA) to operate as an independent introducing broker. This pivotal milestone signals Architect Fintech’s foray into providing derivatives brokerage services for institutional investors in both the cryptocurrency and traditional markets.

A Visionary Venture

Founded by Brett Harrison in January, Architect Financial Technologies is poised to make waves in the financial sector. The company, with its newly approved subsidiary, Architect Financial Derivatives, has set its sights on serving institutional investors with a diverse range of financial derivatives offerings. Harrison’s ambition extends beyond just the cryptocurrency derivatives market; he aims to revolutionize the derivatives space at large.

The Role of an Introducing Broker

To better understand Architect Fintech’s newfound status, it’s essential to clarify the role of an introducing broker. In the financial landscape, an introducing broker is an NFA member tasked with soliciting or accepting orders to buy or sell futures contracts, commodity options, retail off-exchange forex contracts, or swaps. Importantly, introducing brokers does not handle customer funds but instead facilitates the trading process. Architect Financial Technologies, in this context, acts primarily as a software provider.

Architect’s Expansive Vision

Speaking to Bloomberg Markets, Brett Harrison highlighted the core objective of Architect Fintech: “Build out regulated businesses in the exchange-traded derivatives spaces, not just for crypto derivatives but for derivatives at large.” This statement underscores the company’s commitment to facilitating secure and regulated trading across a wide spectrum of derivative products.

According to an official statement, the Architect trading platform will facilitate trading in various derivatives on exchanges regulated by the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Moreover, the platform will provide clearing services through established and regulated partners, ensuring the highest standards of security and compliance. Additionally, Architect Fintech aims to offer its qualified customers access to more than 20 regulated exchanges globally, further expanding its reach and accessibility.

A Strong Backing

Architect Financial Technologies embarked on its journey with substantial financial support. Brett Harrison initiated the venture with an initial investment of $5 million, drawn from a group of investors that included prominent names such as Coinbase Ventures and Circle Ventures. This financial backing underscores the industry’s confidence in the venture’s potential to reshape institutional trading.

The Architect of Success

Brett Harrison led FTX US as President from May 2021 to September 2022. Under his leadership, the Chicago-based cryptocurrency exchange completed a $400-million funding round and announced plans to establish a stock trading platform. Harrison’s journey to Architect Fintech showcases his experience and acumen within the financial sector.

Conclusion

Architect Financial Technologies, under the guidance of Brett Harrison, has made significant strides in the financial technology sector. With its subsidiary’s approval by the National Futures Association to operate as an independent introducing broker, Architect Fintech is poised to provide institutional investors with a regulated and secure platform to trade a wide array of derivatives. Harrison’s vision extends beyond just the cryptocurrency realm, encompassing the derivatives market at large. With substantial financial backing and a track record of success, Architect Fintech appears well-positioned to leave a lasting imprint on the financial landscape.
