  • Aptos Labs and NBCUniversal partnered to create a Web3 game called FREE RENFIELD to promote the upcoming movie ‘Renfield’, starring Nicolas Cage.
  • The interactive game allows fans to search for hidden “bugs” in movie scenes for a chance to win digital and physical collectibles, including custom jewelry, digital art, and vintage film posters.
  • The collaboration demonstrates the potential of combining blockchain technology with the entertainment industry to enhance fan experiences.

Aptos Labs and NBCUniversal have joined forces to create an innovative and engaging Web3 gaming experience for fans of the upcoming movie ‘Renfield,’ starring Nicolas Cage as Dracula. This collaboration combines the power of blockchain technology with the immersive world of film to provide fans with a unique and captivating experience.

Unleashing the Power of Web3 Technology

Aptos Labs, the team behind the Aptos blockchain, has partnered with NBCUniversal to develop a Web3 game to promote the highly anticipated film ‘Renfield.’ The online game is accessible through a QR code or URL and is already live. Players must look through a series of stylized photos based on scenes from the movie to identify hidden “bugs,” which play a crucial role in the film.

Upon successfully identifying the bugs, users are entered into a digital raffle, where they can win three digital collectibles, including movie posters and comic book scenes from the film. Even those who fail to find the hidden bugs still receive a collectible. These non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are minted on the Aptos blockchain and can be accessed through Petra, a wallet built by Aptos.

Collaboration with a Vision – Enhancing Fan Experience

This partnership between NBCUniversal and Aptos Labs marks the media giant’s first significant venture into Web3, according to Mo Shaikh, co-founder, and CEO of Aptos Labs. The collaboration demonstrates a shared interest in exploring Web3 and blockchain technology to enhance the fan experience.

Aptos Labs, publicly released in October 2022, has garnered high-profile partnerships, including Google Cloud and MoonPay, within a short period. The blockchain is known for its high transaction speeds and has a market capitalization of approximately $2.35 billion.

FREE RENFIELD – Connecting Fans through Unique Partnerships and Experiences

FREE RENFIELD, the Web3 game, is a result of the collaboration between Aptos Labs, Forward Studio, Signal and Cipher, and Universal Pictures. Promoted by Fandango, the game runs from March 24th to April 20th and is free to play on mobile and desktop devices. The interactive web-based match allows users to play for a chance to win Dracula-inspired prizes.

The Renfield digital art collection comprises four designs that follow the story of Renfield, Dracula’s familiar, on his quest to free himself from the clutches of the Prince of Darkness. The collection features unique poster designs and custom comic art based on key scenes from the Universal Pictures film.

By participating in the game, fans can win both digital and physical collectibles, including custom jewelry inspired by Dracula’s adornments, digital collectible art, custom blood-red velvet suits, 24-carat gold bug jewelry, historical Dracula crest rings, blood-red rubies, vintage Dracula film posters, and a rare vintage 1967 Dracula horror-themed pinball machine.

The collaboration between Aptos Labs and NBCUniversal demonstrates the potential of combining blockchain technology with entertainment. By leveraging Web3 technology, the FREE RENFIELD game offers fans a unique and immersive experience that connects them with their favorite characters and storylines. The success of this partnership could pave the way for more innovative and engaging experiences in the world of film and beyond.
