- China’s Alibaba has announced the establishment of a Web3 incubator in Japan.
- The lab will help Japanese game developers to explore business opportunities in the Web3 space.
- Alibaba will also launch a blockchain node service in Japan later this year.
As part of its effort to push web3 adoption throughout Japan, Chinese Tech Giant Alibaba will open a blockchain lab next month in Shibuya, Japan.
According to information shared by Alibaba (NYSE: BABA) on March 22, to compete in the Web3 age, this lab will serve as an incubation center where game creators can meet and learn about the newest blockchain technology.
The new lab is the result of a collaboration between Tokyu Real Estate Co., Ltd., and Skeleton Crew Studio, a game and VR content creation studio that annually hosts “BitSummit,” Japan’s most prominent indie game event in Kyoto.
For the time being, it will only be available to a select group of customers and hackathon participants working on joint projects with Alibaba Cloud.
Furthermore, engineers from partner firms specializing in Alibaba Cloud and blockchain will be on hand to provide on-site technical support.
In addition, later this year, Alibaba Cloud will launch a blockchain node service in Japan. The goal is to make using Alibaba’s cloud infrastructure more user-friendly for developers.
Alibaba Cloud’s Web3 Partner Ecosystem
Developers can learn about and discuss the latest developments in Web3 technology through regular seminars, workshops, and networking events. Developers also gain direct access to Alibaba Cloud’s Web3 partner ecosystem.
Safeheron, for example, provides a secure location for institutional investors to store their digital assets, and blockchain infrastructure significantly improves the speed, scalability, and overall performance of Web3 video game development projects. This package includes NodeReal, a significant video distributor, and COCOS-BCX, a provider of scaling solutions for the Web3 gaming environment.
Furthermore, developers can explore the test environments of each of these project ecosystems.
Unique Song, Alibaba’s country manager, stated, “The strengths of content development and digital technology across industries, especially in the game field, opportunities are increasing in the active Web3 community in Japan. We provide robust, secure, high-performance cloud infrastructure, technology platforms, and intelligence tools for Web3 developers in Japan. Customers and developers are unique in games, metaverse, and social media”.
Furthermore, Alibaba Cloud has stated that it will provide a blockchain node service in Japan by the end of the year. Currently, the service makes working with Alibaba Cloud’s scalable, efficient, and secure infrastructure more user-friendly for developers. It is under test by invited users working on projects with Alibaba.
