Trump Media Ends Crypto.com Deals – Here Is What It Means for Its Crypto Plans

  • Trump Media and Crypto.com have mutually ended plans to create a publicly traded CRO digital asset treasury company.
  • Crypto.com will also no longer support Yorkville’s planned ETF offerings, although Yorkville says its broader ETF strategy remains unchanged.
  • Trump Media continues to hold more than $600 million in Bitcoin, suggesting its wider crypto strategy is not disappearing entirely.

Trump Media and Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, and Crypto.com are pulling back from two major partnerships as both companies adjust their corporate strategies.

Crypto.com announced Friday that the companies had mutually agreed to terminate their proposed Trump Media Group CRO Strategy venture, citing prevailing market conditions and changing business and stakeholder priorities.

The decision represents a notable shift from the aggressive crypto expansion plans the companies outlined over the past year.

CRO Treasury Company Plans Are Scrapped

Trump Media Group CRO Strategy was intended to become a publicly traded digital asset treasury company focused primarily on accumulating CRO, the native token of the Crypto.com ecosystem.

The plan originated in August 2025, when Trump Media, Crypto.com, and Yorkville Acquisition Corp. agreed on a transaction that would transform Yorkville into a CRO-focused treasury company.

That strategy would have followed the increasingly popular corporate crypto treasury model, where publicly traded companies raise capital to accumulate large positions in specific digital assets.

Those plans have now been abandoned, with the companies pointing to changing market conditions and corporate priorities rather than a specific operational dispute.

Crypto.com Steps Away From ETF Partnership

Crypto.com is also ending its involvement with Yorkville’s planned exchange-traded funds.

The companies had previously announced plans for several ETFs under Trump Media’s Truth.Fi brand, including products offering exposure to cryptocurrencies.

However, Yorkville said its existing and future ETF plans remain unchanged despite Crypto.com’s departure. That suggests the company could continue pursuing the products using different infrastructure or partners.

CRO reacted negatively to the announcement, falling around 4% following news that the partnerships were ending.

Trump Media Still Holds a Large Bitcoin Position

The changes do not mean Trump Media is abandoning cryptocurrency entirely.

Crypto wallets associated with the company recently transferred 2,628 BTC to Crypto.com through two transactions. A Trump Media spokesperson said the Bitcoin was transferred but was not sold.

Trump Media also remains one of the world’s larger publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holders. The company reportedly holds more than $600 million worth of BTC, ranking it around 14th among public corporate Bitcoin treasuries.

The company had separately announced plans in late 2025 to distribute a crypto-based rewards token to shareholders through a partnership with Crypto.com. The latest announcement raises additional questions about how that initiative could develop following the broader restructuring of the relationship.

Trump Media’s Crypto Strategy Enters a New Phase

The cancellation of the CRO treasury venture represents a significant retreat from one of Trump Media’s more ambitious digital asset initiatives.

Rather than signaling a complete exit from crypto, however, the move appears to reflect a shift in how the company intends to pursue its digital asset strategy.

Its substantial Bitcoin treasury remains intact, while Yorkville says its ETF ambitions are continuing despite Crypto.com’s departure.

Investors will now be watching whether Trump Media finds new partners for its ETF and token initiatives, adjusts its Bitcoin holdings, or concentrates more heavily on BTC rather than expanding into additional cryptocurrencies such as CRO.
