  • Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has officially joined X, using his first post to advocate for open AI models and U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence.
  • Huang signed a joint letter to Congress alongside companies including Microsoft, Meta, Box, and CrowdStrike.
  • The letter argues that open AI models can strengthen innovation, cybersecurity, and America’s long-term competitiveness.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has officially joined the social media platform X, making his debut with a message focused on the future of artificial intelligence and the importance of maintaining U.S. leadership in the sector.

In his first post, Huang revealed that he had signed a joint letter addressed to the U.S. Congress calling for policies that support open AI models while preserving American leadership in AI development.

The announcement places Nvidia alongside several of the world’s largest technology companies in advocating for a balanced approach to the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Huang Calls for an Open AI Ecosystem

In his first public message on X, Huang emphasized that artificial intelligence will become foundational across virtually every industry.

He argued that open AI models can improve cybersecurity, accelerate innovation, expand access to advanced technology, and help nations maintain technological sovereignty.

According to Huang, both frontier closed models and frontier open models have important roles to play in the future development of artificial intelligence.

Tech Giants Unite Behind the Letter

The letter to Congress was signed by Nvidia together with several major technology companies, including Microsoft, Meta, Box, and CrowdStrike.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also publicly endorsed the initiative, stating that open AI models are essential to maintaining a healthy AI ecosystem, strengthening U.S. competitiveness, expanding economic opportunity, and supporting national security.

The joint effort reflects growing industry consensus that access to open AI technology should remain a key component of future innovation.

Open Models Take Center Stage

The letter argues that America’s long-term AI leadership should not be measured solely by the development of the most advanced proprietary models.

Instead, the signatories say success will depend on building an open ecosystem where AI technologies can be broadly adopted across businesses, research institutions, and public infrastructure.

They describe open-weight AI models—which can be downloaded, inspected, modified, and deployed independently—as an important foundation for expanding access and encouraging competition throughout the AI industry.

AI Policy Debate Continues

Huang’s arrival on X comes as governments around the world continue debating how artificial intelligence should be regulated while preserving innovation.

With AI becoming increasingly important to economic growth, national security, and technological leadership, policymakers are weighing how to encourage both cutting-edge research and broader public access to AI tools.

The latest letter underscores the growing influence of major technology companies in shaping that discussion as the next generation of AI policy takes form.
