Curio Cards is a 30-piece artwork collection launched on May 9, 2017, and is considered a digital treasure by many NFT experts. A total of seven different artists are featured in the 30 digital artworks, including Phneep, Cryptograffiti, Cryptopop, Daniel Friedman, Marisol Vengas, Robek World, and Thoros of Myr.

With that out of the way, let’s dive into the impact and importance of this set!

Overall, NFTs offer artists around the world a new, rewarding, and risky way of generating income; and Curio Cards played a significant role in that development.

In a quick Discord chat with Rug Radios’ host and Curio Cards’ community moderator, Adam McBride, said, “Curio Cards are a historically significant NFT collection because they were the first art project released on the Ethereum blockchain. Predating CryptoPunks, the Curio Cards project is widely regarded as a leader in the movement for artists to get paid through smart contracts. The result is the revolutionary modern NFT, which allows artists to receive royalties whenever their work changes hands.”

As some people know, there’s a negative stigma around people who pursue art as a career path. If you’re an artist, you’ve probably heard people say something along the lines of: “Artists are poor and make no money.” Is there some truth behind that? In some cases, yes. However, we have seen so many financial success stories in the NFT space over the past year; and the artists of Curio Cards are a prime example of that. To be specific, all seven Curio Card artists made a combined total of 376.13 Eth on OpenSea (which equates to around $694,943.87 during the time of writing).
