  • The Binance Charity Scholarship offers Web3 courses, enabling students to upskill without having to overcome unnecessary financial difficulties.
  • The Binance Charity Scholar Program received more than 82,000 applications in the past six months, with over 30,000 awarded in 2023.
  • Various education centers, including universities in Germany, Cyprus, and Australia, Women In Tech, Nigeria-based tech school Utiva, and Ukrainian organizations, are the education partner with Binance.

Binance Charity- the philanthropic arm of Binance cryptocurrency Exchange, has revealed its plan to fund 30,655 scholarships to students worldwide with opportunities to learn more on Web3.

In a January 20 blog post, Binance Charity Scholarship Program (BCSP) noted that it would facilitate free Web3 education and courses. The program would enable students to upskill without having to overcome unnecessary financial difficulties. The program stated,

“We recognize that digital education and skills development can be out of reach for many, resulting in a blockchain industry that needs more diversity and talent. The Binance Scholar Program changes all that, covering the costs of tuition and course fees at some of the world’s leading universities, colleges, and vocational training providers.”

The blog post also noted that over 82,000 applicants were interested in becoming part of the BCSP cohort, which equals an acceptance rate of 37%. In 2022, Binance Charity disbursed $2.2 million BUSD to support free access to some of the world’s Web3 educational opportunities, including Senegal, Nigeria, and others.

Various education partners for Binance include the University of Nicosia in Cyprus, the University of Western Australia, the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management in Germany, and the Nigerian-based tech hub Utiva. Apart from French-based tuition-free training Centre Simplon, Kyiv IT Cluster, Women In Tech, and Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital transformation will host part of BCSP’s event.

However, the Head of Binance Charity Foundation, Helen Hai, stated:

“The response to our Web3 education projects has been unprecedented, showing the keen appetite of so many people to learn about blockchain, Defi (sic), coding, NFTs, and much more. We are seeing interest from a diverse range of people, including a great ratio of women, of which I am proudly passionate. With so many more education initiatives and amazing pipeline partners, we’ve never been more excited to build a more inclusive Web3 world.”

Notably, BSCP is a firm that facilitates interested individuals’ access to the required skills in Web3. Aside from offering free courses, the program also provides work opportunities to individuals to obtain experience.

Binance Charity’s Web3 Scholarships

Reportedly, last year, Binance Charity partnered with Nigerian-based technology school Utiva and funded over 50,000 students with Web3 education. Notably, the partnership with Women In Tech will endeavor to train around 3,000 women in rural South Africa and Brazil to enable future female entrepreneurship.

In 2022, Binance Charity raised over $3.5 million, with most coming from Binance USD (BUSD), which enabled funding over 290,000 hours of Web3 education and training courses.

BCSP collaborated with the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation and the famous tech community Kyiv IT Cluster to help Ukrainians who lost their jobs due to the ongoing Russian war. The scholarship program will equip various individuals with the required skills to enter the job market.

The Binance Charity will also receive partnership support from Binance academy, the company’s non-profit blockchain education portal.

The courses offered via Binance Scholarship Program are offered online or in person with several lengths for short introductions and more detailed seminars. The students could learn core crypto topics, including NFTs, decentralization, metaverse, and trading.
