- This is WWE’s latest effort in NFTs and digital collectibles after past attempts failed to gain significant sales. The cards aim to appeal to enthusiastic WWE fans.
The Italian collectibles company Panini has partnered with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) to launch a new set of digital trading cards showcasing popular wrestlers. The digital card collection, called Donruss Elite, will feature 100 different WWE superstars on the Panini Blockchain.
Introducing Donruss Elite WWE Digital Cards
The Donruss Elite card set includes renowned WWE wrestlers such as John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, and many more. Collectors who purchase the digital card packs can virtually open them to obtain the limited edition digital assets.
Interacting with Other Collectors
In addition to collecting the cards, Donruss Elite offers collectors opportunities to participate in special events and contests. Collectors can take part in collection challenges to win exclusive cards not found in regular packs. There are also digital crafting events where collectors can turn common cards into exclusive numbered cards.
WWE’s History with NFTs
This is not WWE’s first venture into NFTs and digital collectibles. In 2021, WWE and John Cena released a series of NFTs based on Cena’s persona. However, those NFTs failed to gain significant sales. WWE’s competitors All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Impact Wrestling have also released wrestling-themed NFTs in the past year.
Hopes for Strong Sales
With an enthusiastic fanbase and rich history, WWE is an ideal partner for the blockchain collectibles space. Panini and WWE will be hoping these newly launched Donruss Elite cards on the blockchain will fare better than WWE’s previous NFT attempts. The cards are designed to appeal directly to die-hard WWE fans.
