Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, has already won two Super Bowls (and two MVP awards) during his six NFL seasons. And he was one of the first athletes to make a big NFT splash back in 2021. Now he’s returning to his Museum of Mahomes NFT brand with plans for a new release.
Museum of Mahomes, which will debut new collectibles in September, will serve up NFTs inspired by the Chiefs star, some of which will be tied to real-world perks such as physical trading cards, autographed jerseys and footballs, and more.
According to a representative, the “Museum of Mahomes II” collection will include 15,000 NFTs with artwork inspired by his entire NFL career to date. The Museum of Mahomes is yet to reveal which network it will mint NFTs on, let alone how much the collectibles will cost.
Mahomes, who led his team to victory in the most recent Super Bowl in February, first released his NFTs in March 2021, yielding $3.7 million in sales as the NFT space began to take off. Owners of the original NFTs will be able to get physical copies of their collectibles signed by the superstar himself.
His previous 2021 drop also used the “Museum of Mahomes” branding and occurred on MakersPlace, an Ethereum NFT marketplace and platform. The project is led by D–O–M, a digital agency involved in the previous drop.
A portion of the proceeds from NFT sales will go to Mahomes’ 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, which will benefit children in underserved communities through a variety of initiatives.
As stated by Mahomes in a press release, “I am excited to offer physical replicas to holders of the Museum of Mahomes I collection and do some good in the world with the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation as a part of the Museum of Mahomes II release.”
Although Mahomes has gone at it alone with NFTs, he has also been the face of Dapper Labs‘ NFL All Day, serving as an official spokesperson since the platform’s launch last August.
