- Solana’s Saga aims to usher in the mobile future of Web3 with a $599 price tag rather than a $1000 price tag.
- Anatoly Yakovenko, the network chief, introduced Saga in 2022 with Solana Mobile Stack integration.
The price of Solana’s Andriod-based web3 smartphone, Saga, has been reduced by 40% in an effort to boost adoption. The cost of the cutting-edge smartphone has been reduced from $1,000 to $599.
According to an official tweet from Solana Mobile, the price cut is intended to make the technology more accessible. They are also looking into increasing web3 adoption.
The Saga Web3 Smartphone Guarantees a Smooth Web3 Transition
The platform stated, “In April, we introduced Saga with a clear vision: to put Web3 at your fingertips. We will keep working to bring more people into the ecosystem and to propel web3’s mobile future. We are lowering the price of Saga to $599 today.”
Emmett Hollyer, Solana Mobile’s head of business operations, stated that such price cuts are common in the industry.
“Implementing a price reduction several months after launch is common practice in the consumer electronics business, particularly with smartphones,” Hollyer explained.
“A lower price will accelerate user adoption,” he added.
Saga, which made its public debut in late April of this year, quickly gained traction with its promise of putting Web3 capabilities at users’ fingertips. The smartphone ensures a smooth transition into the Web3 ecosystem.
Solana Mobile’s creators are also pleased with how users have embraced the mobile-first experience over the last four months. It included audience participation with exclusive rewards such as the Claynosaurz mint.
The platform stated that it would add new features to the Solana dApp Store, such as allowlists and non-fungible token (NFT) drops, as well as introduce innovative applications.
Solana Tries to Regain its 2021 Valuation
Saga Mobile was introduced in June 2022 by Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder and CEO of Solana. Saga’s standout feature is the integration of the Solana Mobile Stack (SMS), which created a mobile interface for Solana wallets and applications.
This stack also included a “Secure Element” for managing private keys, which improved the security of Web3 transactions.
The Saga smartphone has notable physical characteristics, such as a dual-camera system with a 50MP primary camera and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The device also includes a 16MP selfie camera.
Saga’s lower price point aims to increase Web3 technology adoption. This is despite Solana’s struggles to recover its 2021 record valuation.
