- The company intends to release NFT avatars and explore enhanced immersive experiences by fully integrating blockchain-based digital assets with Vision Pro.
Sensorium, a blockchain-based extended reality startup known for its Sensorium Galaxy metaverse, is eager to get its hands on Apple’s new Vision Pro headset, becoming one of the first tech developers to announce integration plans with the new device.
According to the Swiss company, the Vision Pro could be the missing link in transforming virtual DJ sets, live performances, and other social events in virtual worlds into mainstream at-home entertainment.
Last week, Apple unveiled Vision Pro, its first dedicated augmented and virtual reality headset, at a closely watched product launch event.
The powerful device includes displays, sensors, cameras, and computing components designed specifically for virtual and augmented reality, or “spatial computing,” which could usher in a new era of immersive and seamless digital experiences.
Sensorium has spent years developing AI-powered virtual avatars, spaces, and music events in collaboration with a roster of chart-topping artists such as David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, and Black Coffee to lead the future of entertainment in hyper-immersive VR settings. Carl Cox, a British dance music icon, was recently announced as the first artist to perform in VR inside Sensorium Galaxy’s metaverse world PRISM.
The company has emphasized the widespread availability of its XR platforms, which are available on portable devices and app stores. However, it has also stated that Vision Pro’s capabilities could take their Web3 and metaverse vision to an entirely new level.
According to Alex Firsov, Sensorium’s Chief Web3 Officer, “Apple’s first foray into mixed reality brings a great deal of validation to our industry, and it has certainly raised our ambitions. We’re looking at fully integrating blockchain-based digital assets to enable enhanced immersive experiences with Vision Pro.”
Sensorium intends to release an NFT drop of unique avatar characters that can be used across Web3 games and events this summer.
Sensorium envisions these avatars taking on a new role as virtual DJs and hosts for interactive home parties when Vision Pro is released next year, among a slew of other capabilities the developer says it has begun working on.
Some critics of Apple have yet to be addressed by the tech giant’s lofty mixed reality ambitions citing a lack of compelling use cases for the pricey headset.
While others, on the other hand, are looking to developers and startups like Sensorium to unlock Vision Pro’s true potential and push the technology in new directions.
Sensorium’s Chief Metaverse Officer Ivan Nikitin stated, “We are thrilled by the prospect of utilizing the unprecedented power of the M2 chip to its utmost capacity. We are gearing up to introduce mind-bending performances featuring photorealistic avatars of some of the world’s most renowned music stars right into the living rooms of future Apple Vision Pro users. By bridging our metaverse with the tangible world through mixed reality, we’re not just delivering an immersive experience; we are creating a seamless portal that interlinks virtual and physical realities.”
To further democratize the Web3 space and accelerate the mainstream acceptance of its immersive experiences, Sensorium aims to create a synergy between Vision Pro and its blockchain-friendly virtual environments.
As the Vision Pro prepares to hit the market next year, Sensorium’s ambitious plans could be the key to realizing Apple’s vision of a more immersive and interactive entertainment ecosystem enabled by mixed reality.
