After shutting it down last November due to, well, chaos, Pump.fun is easing livestreaming back in — slowly. Just 5% of users are getting access right now, according to co-founder Alon, who posted the update Friday on X (yep, still weird calling it that).
New Rules, Less Chaos (Hopefully)
The memecoin launchpad, which runs on Solana, now has a much stricter moderation policy. If you’re livestreaming on the platform, don’t even think about crossing certain lines: stuff like violence, harassment, explicit sexual content, or anything that endangers minors will get you banned — either from streaming, or possibly from the platform altogether.
The site says the goal here is to keep the vibes creative, expressive, and not totally toxic. Seems fair, especially after last year’s mess.
Why It Got Pulled Last Year
Back in November 2024, livestreaming was paused after things took a seriously dark turn. We’re talking reports of some truly horrific behavior being used to pump token prices — threats of self-harm, child exploitation, and worse. No one wants that. So the feature was yanked while they figured out how to prevent it happening again.
NSFW? Still Allowed (Sort Of)
Interestingly, Pump.fun isn’t going full puritan. NSFW content isn’t outright banned — not yet, at least. They’ve made it clear that while they’ll crack down on the worst stuff, a lot of content people might label “inappropriate” could still be allowed.
Basically, Pump.fun says they’ll make the call if and when something crosses a line. If they do boot you off for a stream, you can appeal — though how often those appeals are successful? That’s anyone’s guess.
