  • Mythical Games’ NFL Rivals now supports in-app NFT purchases on both iOS and Android, a feature previously restricted to their web platform, following Google’s policy change supporting NFT in-app transactions.
  • The game has achieved over two million downloads since its soft launch in April, offering players a unique blend of football, gaming, and crypto elements.
  • Mythical Games has introduced ‘Credits’, a new in-game currency distinct from cryptocurrencies, for buying NFTs directly within the game.

NFL Rivals has taken a significant leap with its accommodation of playing card NFTs. Prior to recent updates, purchasing NFTs was limited to the Mythical web-based platform. However, players can now seamlessly buy NFT player cards directly within the game’s interface, both on iOS and Android platforms.

The integration comes in the wake of Google’s revised Android Play Store policies, endorsing NFT purchases and in-app integrations. Now, players reaching user level 4 in the game can access the “Improve My Roster” function. While the current in-game marketplace browsing experience offers only limited suggestions, Mythical Games has expansive plans on the horizon. They intend to unveil various in-game marketplace integrations in the forthcoming months, with the ultimate vision of enabling the purchase and sale of NFTs directly within the game.

The mechanism of this purchase introduces a new in-game currency named ‘Credits’. This currency is distinctly separate from cryptocurrencies and can be acquired using fiat money through standard app stores. Credits can be used to purchase NFTs, adding an extra layer of interactivity and value to the game.

A Powerhouse in Soft Launch

Mythical Games’ NFL Rivals has taken the mobile gaming community by storm. Since its soft launch in April, the game has witnessed over two million downloads, underscoring its growing popularity. These figures are impressive, and with the imminent onset of the NFL season, they are poised to surge even further. As the most-followed sport in the U.S., the NFL’s cultural footprint is gigantic. Tapping into this immense fanbase, Mythical Games has developed a product that not only entices football enthusiasts but also beckons the crypto-savvy crowd.

A defining feature of NFL Rivals is its web3 integration. This integration equips fans with the ability to own, collect, and exchange playable digital assets. Mythical Games, led by CEO John Linden, believes that this game could usher a more extensive demographic into understanding and embracing digital ownership. Players will have the ease of buying and selling these in-game assets directly from the mobile app, be it on Apple or Android devices.

The Future of Mythical Games and NFTs

NFL Rivals is only the beginning. Mythical Games has showcased its intent and capability by securing a whopping $37 million in Series C1 funding, bolstering their vision of integrating the blockchain and gaming worlds. With a valuation exceeding $1 billion, they’re on the path to optimize their business and aim for profitability by year’s end.

The allure of NFTs is undeniable, and their marriage with the world of mobile gaming promises a frontier of opportunities. Mythical Games, through NFL Rivals, has taken a bold step into this future, intertwining the passions of football and the intrigue of blockchain. As the 2023 NFL season dawns, we stand on the precipice of a new gaming era, where your digital prowess on the field could earn you tangible assets off it.
