- HV-MTL holders must choose between upgrading to Evo2 or minting Pets
- Evo2 upgrades require six Amps and unlock expanded ecosystem utility
- Burning bots without Amps creates a new companion NFT collection
The HV-MTL ecosystem is entering a new phase as the long-awaited Evo2 upgrade and Pets collection officially roll out. The update marks one of the biggest changes to the Metal Bots project since collectors Gabe and Adam Weitsman acquired the IP in September 2025 with plans to revive and expand the brand.

Instead of remaining static collectibles, HV-MTL bots are now evolving into a more dynamic ecosystem. Holders must decide how their assets move forward, either transforming them into upgraded Evo2 machines or burning them to mint entirely new companion NFTs known as Pets.
Two Paths for HV-MTL NFT Holders
The new update introduces two distinct routes for existing HV-MTL bots. The first is the Evo2 evolution path. Holders who have reactivated their bots and collected six Amps can burn their current HV-MTL to receive an upgraded Evo2 version.
These new Evo2 bots are expected to support deeper integration within the broader ecosystem. Future plans include additional activations, expanded digital assets such as 3D models, and additional functionality tied to upcoming developments.

The second option introduces the Pets collection. If a holder chooses to burn their HV-MTL without the required Amps, they will receive a unique companion NFT instead. These Pets form a secondary collection connected to the original Metal Bots, similar to how Mutant Apes expanded the Bored Ape Yacht Club ecosystem.
How the Upgrade Process Works
The upgrade process begins on the official HV-MTL portal. Holders must connect the wallet containing their bot and select the specific asset they want to convert.
Once the wallet is connected, the system presents the two available choices. If the holder possesses six Amps, they can proceed with the Evo2 upgrade by burning their original bot. If they prefer the alternative route or lack the required Amps, they can burn the bot directly to mint a Pet.
Because this process permanently destroys the Evo1 bot, the decision is final. Collectors are encouraged to review their options carefully before completing the transaction.

Evo1 Bots Are Reaching the End of Their Lifecycle
A key element of the rollout is that Evo1 bots will no longer receive additional upgrades or future utility. Without converting them into either Evo2 or Pets, the original version of the bots will effectively remain frozen within the ecosystem.
This design forces holders to actively choose how their assets evolve. Rather than passively holding NFTs, collectors now participate in shaping the future structure of the HV-MTL ecosystem.
The Next Chapter for Metal Bots
The Evo2 upgrade and Pets release represent a major turning point for the project. The HV-MTL collection is shifting away from static NFTs toward a more interactive system where holders influence the long-term structure of the ecosystem.
Whether collectors choose to upgrade into stronger Evo2 machines or transform their bots into companion Pets, the update signals the beginning of a new generation for the Metal Bots universe. For the community, it’s a clear sign that the HV-MTL reboot is officially underway.
