- Blockchain.com has applied for two U.S. regulatory licenses that could allow it to offer crypto derivatives and prediction markets to American customers.
- The applications include a designated contract market license and futures commission merchant registration, both overseen by the CFTC.
- The move comes as Blockchain.com prepares for a potential IPO targeting approximately $500 million at a reported valuation of $4 billion to $6 billion.
Blockchain.com has applied for regulatory approval to offer cryptocurrency derivatives and prediction markets in the United States, according to a CNBC report.
The crypto wallet and trading platform is seeking two licenses from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

If approved, the applications would allow Blockchain.com to expand its existing derivatives and prediction market services to U.S. customers.
“Users should be able to manage their digital assets, trade derivatives and take positions on real-world events easily, without jumping between different apps,” Blockchain.com CEO and co-founder Peter Smith said.
Blockchain.com Targets U.S. Prediction Markets
Blockchain.com is seeking a designated contract market license and registration as a futures commission merchant.
A designated contract market license would allow the company to operate a regulated exchange for eligible derivatives and event contracts.
Futures commission merchant registration would support customer-facing futures trading services under CFTC oversight.
Blockchain.com already provides access to prediction markets through Polymarket and perpetual futures through Hyperliquid.
However, those services are currently limited to customers outside the United States.
Approval of the new licenses could allow the company to bring these offerings to the U.S. market.
Blockchain.com Expands Into Tokenized Stocks
The regulatory applications follow Blockchain.com’s recent agreement with the New York Stock Exchange.
In September, the companies announced plans to provide Blockchain.com users with access to tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds.

The products would be offered through the NYSE’s planned digital trading platform.
The agreement represents another step in Blockchain.com’s efforts to expand beyond traditional cryptocurrency trading.
Combined with its derivatives and prediction market plans, the company is building a broader platform covering crypto assets, tokenized securities and event-based trading.
Blockchain.com Targets $500 Million IPO
Blockchain.com is also preparing for a potential public listing in the United States.
The company confidentially filed for an initial public offering in May, joining other crypto businesses exploring public market opportunities.
According to recent Bloomberg reports, Blockchain.com is seeking to raise approximately $500 million through an IPO.
The company is reportedly targeting a valuation between $4 billion and $6 billion, with a potential listing before the end of 2026.
However, Blockchain.com has considered going public before.
In April 2022, the company reportedly held discussions with banks about a possible listing after raising funding at a $14 billion valuation.
For now, its expansion into U.S. derivatives and prediction markets remains dependent on regulatory approval, while its IPO plans have yet to be finalized.
