- SBI Holdings invested $270 million in Indonesian investment platform Ajaib Group, acquiring an approximately 20% stake.
- Ajaib offers crypto and stablecoins alongside traditional investments, including OTC stablecoin settlement services for corporate and institutional clients.
- The investment supports SBI’s broader strategy to build a digital asset network across Southeast Asia.
Japanese financial services giant SBI Holdings is expanding its digital asset presence in Asia with a $270 million strategic investment in Indonesia’s Ajaib Group.
The deal gives SBI an approximately 20% minority stake in the Jakarta-based investment platform and makes Ajaib an equity-method affiliate of the Japanese company.

Ajaib said the investment represents Indonesia’s largest technology funding round since 2022. It also pushes the company’s total funding raised since 2019 above $500 million.
Ajaib Combines Traditional Finance and Crypto
Ajaib operates as a multi-asset investment platform rather than a crypto-only business.
Its services provide access to domestic and international stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, commodities and foreign exchange alongside crypto assets and stablecoins. The company also offers payments and savings products.
A key part of its digital asset business is stablecoin infrastructure. Ajaib provides OTC stablecoin settlement services and liquidity for companies and institutional investors in Indonesia.
That combination of traditional financial services and digital assets appears to be a major reason SBI sees Ajaib as a strategic fit.

SBI Expands Its Digital Asset Network Across Asia
SBI already operates several crypto businesses around the world.
The group runs SBI VC Trade in Japan and Coinhako in Singapore, while also owning crypto market maker B2C2 in the UK. Its other digital asset projects include the JPYSC yen stablecoin and Strium, a Layer 1 blockchain being developed for financial applications.
SBI Chairman and President Yoshitaka Kitao said global digital asset infrastructure is becoming increasingly important as financial markets move toward tokenization.
The company is now working to establish a network of digital asset exchanges across Southeast Asia through its “SBI APAC Digital Economic Zone” initiative.
Ajaib gives SBI a stronger position in Indonesia while connecting its existing digital asset infrastructure with a platform already serving both traditional and crypto markets.
The investment suggests SBI is positioning for a financial system where stablecoins, tokenized assets and conventional investment products increasingly operate side by side.
