Grayscale Files Worldcoin ETF – Here Is Why Altcoin Funds Keep Expanding

  • Grayscale has filed an S-1 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a spot Worldcoin ETF.
  • The proposed fund would trade on Nasdaq under the ticker GWLD, pending regulatory approval.
  • The filing adds Worldcoin to the growing list of cryptocurrencies seeking dedicated U.S. exchange-traded funds.

Grayscale has taken another step in expanding its lineup of cryptocurrency investment products by filing an S-1 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a spot Worldcoin ETF.

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart confirmed the filing, noting that the proposed fund would trade under the ticker GWLD on the Nasdaq exchange if it receives regulatory approval.

The move continues Grayscale’s strategy of bringing more single-asset cryptocurrency funds to public markets as institutional interest broadens beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

ETF Would Follow Grayscale’s Existing Structure

According to the filing, the proposed ETF would use a familiar structure similar to Grayscale’s other digital asset investment products.

Shares would be created and redeemed in 10,000-share creation blocks, allowing authorized participants to efficiently manage supply and demand while helping the ETF closely track the value of its underlying Worldcoin holdings.

This structure has become standard across many spot cryptocurrency ETF products.

SEC Review Process Still Ahead

The S-1 filing is only the first stage of the approval process.

Before the ETF can begin trading, Grayscale must also receive SEC approval and submit a 19b-4 rule change through Nasdaq for exchange listing.

Previous spot cryptocurrency ETF applications have often required months of regulatory review before receiving a final decision.

Worldcoin Continues Building Its Ecosystem

Worldcoin’s native token, WLD, powers the World network, a blockchain ecosystem designed around digital identity and proof-of-humanity verification.

The project uses its Orb biometric verification devices to help users establish unique digital identities while preventing duplicate registrations. According to the project, millions of users have already been verified across dozens of countries.

The ecosystem continues to expand as developers explore identity-based applications built on blockchain technology.

Altcoin ETF Competition Keeps Growing

Grayscale’s latest filing reflects the broader shift toward expanding regulated investment products beyond the largest cryptocurrencies.

As institutional demand grows and regulatory clarity improves, asset managers are increasingly seeking ETFs tied to a wider range of blockchain networks and digital assets.

If approved, the Worldcoin ETF would further broaden investors’ access to the altcoin market through traditional brokerage accounts while reinforcing the growing role of crypto ETFs within mainstream financial markets.
