The largest challenge and bottleneck for every Web3 startup and DAO project is attracting and retaining excellent talent.

  • To resolve the blockchain trilemma of decentralization, security, and scalability, the Web3 sector needs expertise.
  • Community-focused abilities top the list as the key skill set that Web3 contributors use the most frequently.
  • Opportunities in layer-1 networks, layer-2 solutions, and decentralized apps (DApps) are sought after by Web3 specialists.

Introduction

The success of the Web3 industry, which is evolving quickly, depends on resolving the blockchain trilemma. For Web3 startups and DAO projects, however, finding and keeping great people is a huge barrier. Intropia conducted the “Web3 Talent Survey,” a study that polled over 6,000 participants, to understand better the tastes and attitudes of professionals wishing to enter the Web3 field.

Characteristics of Web3 Contributors

The survey states that Web3 contributors are typically between the ages of 25 and 44 and have more than five years of professional experience. They have a wide range of knowledge. However, the most prevalent primary skill set for Web3 contributors is community-related knowledge. According to the survey, 16% of respondents possess abilities that are relevant to the community, followed by research (10%), engineering (9%), and product (7%). In addition, most Web3 contributors are new to the field and invest 8 to 32 hours a week in their studies.

Preferred Roles in the Web3 Ecosystem

The analysis shows that when defining jobs in the Web3 ecosystem, independent contractors and part-time contributors take the lead. Decentralized anonymous organizations (DAOs) employ one-fifth of respondents full-time, while 15% of respondents serve as founder members of DAOs. Most responders work on multiple projects, reflecting the decentralized nature of the Web3 space. The Intropia poll found that more than 80% of participants multitask, which is now considered standard practice. Decentralized programs (DApps), layer-2 solutions like Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism, and layer-1 networks like the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Avalanche blockchains are among the chances that Web3 specialists are searching for.

Expectations from the Web3 Industry

The study shows that the Web3 community is like a club with intelligent, like-minded people working toward a similar objective. Over 57% of those surveyed gave their satisfaction with working in the Web3 industry a score of 10 out of 10. However, the survey emphasizes that scam projects, FOMO, and the slow adoption rate are the primary worries of Web3 contributors.

Attracting and Retaining Top Web3 Talents

According to the report, it’s crucial for projects looking to hire Web3 specialists to establish an inclusive and diverse workplace that promotes creativity and cooperation. Because word-of-mouth is so effective in the Web3 industry, elite talent mainly relies on recommendations to locate their next job. To draw in top people, the paper advises embracing the ecosystem’s variety.

Conclusion

A vibrant environment like Web3 draws talented people who are pursuing similar objectives. Intropia’s study reveals the preferences and attitudes of Web3 contributors, as well as their traits, ideal roles, and expectations from the sector. Addressing Web3 professionals’ concerns and fostering an inclusive, varied workplace culture that encourages cooperation and innovation are critical as the Web3 industry expands and changes. By doing this, the sector can draw in and keep top talent and expand the realm of what is feasible in the Web3 market.
