XRP ETF Demand Is Exploding – Here is Why $10B in XRP Funds Could Be the Next Big Target

  • XRP ETFs surpassed $1 billion in assets in just 17 days, signaling strong early demand
  • Analysts believe ETF inflows could push XRP exposure toward $10 billion within a year
  • Institutional adoption and infrastructure growth are reshaping XRP’s long-term outlook

Interest in XRP exchange traded funds is picking up speed, and it’s happening quicker than most people thought. Cboe has now approved a 21Shares XRP ETF under the XR ticker, adding yet another regulated on-ramp for exposure to the token. Each approval seems to pull more attention toward XRP, and the pace is starting to feel hard to ignore.

Even industry leaders appear a bit surprised. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently pointed out that XRP ETFs crossed $1 billion in assets in just 17 days, which is an unusually fast ramp by any standard. That early demand is fueling the idea that this trend isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

A $10 Billion ETF Market May Be Closer Than It Sounds

Crypto analyst Mickle believes the numbers could scale rapidly if current inflow rates hold. At that pace, XRP ETFs could be holding close to $10 billion worth of XRP within a year, a level that would significantly change market dynamics. According to him, ETFs are quietly removing the friction that kept many investors on the sidelines for years.

For a lot of institutions, buying XRP directly simply wasn’t an option due to custody, compliance, or internal rules. ETFs sidestep that entirely by offering exposure through standard brokerage accounts. Mickle also stressed that XRP today isn’t the same asset it was back in 2016 or 2017, even if some people still frame it that way.

The XRP Ledger Has Been Evolving in Plain Sight

Mickle pointed out that the XRP Ledger has continued to grow more capable, even if much of that progress went unnoticed by the broader market. New features, expanding utility, and stronger infrastructure have all changed the investment profile over time. From his perspective, that evolution matters just as much as price action, maybe more.

He also reminded investors that Ripple’s long-term vision hasn’t really changed. As far back as 2013, Chris Larsen was talking about issuing assets on the ledger and using XRP as a source of liquidity. That original idea is now starting to feel more relevant as institutions search for efficient settlement layers.

ETFs Open a New Liquidity Pipeline

Rather than viewing XRP ETFs as a short-term trade, Mickle sees them as a new liquidity pipeline. Institutional demand tends to be steadier than retail flows, and that consistency could add depth to the market over time. Less dependence on emotional trading cycles may help smooth volatility, even if it doesn’t remove it entirely.

As liquidity grows, the role of the XRP Ledger itself may expand as well. Mickle expects more financial infrastructure to migrate onto the ledger, positioning XRP as underlying liquidity for multiple use cases. That shift could move XRP beyond simple payments narratives and into broader financial plumbing.

Institutions Are Reshaping Crypto Market Cycles

Institutions have strong incentives to push ETF products, especially since they fit neatly into existing compliance, advisory, and marketing frameworks. That makes XRP ETFs easier to recommend than holding tokens directly, which could quietly accelerate adoption. Analysts see this structural advantage as a long-term tailwind rather than a one-off catalyst.

While crypto still reacts to macro events like U.S. rate cuts, Mickle argues that the market is slowly moving away from rigid four-year boom-and-bust cycles. Fundamentals such as regulation, infrastructure maturity, and real-world use cases are starting to matter more. XRP’s outperformance over the past 18 months hints that capital is becoming more selective, and that trend may only deepen.
