• Former President Trump is in talks to speak at the Bitcoin 2024 convention in Nashville at the end of July
• Trump’s embrace of crypto has contrasted with President Biden’s coolness toward digital currency
• Other speakers at the convention include Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Vivek Ramaswamy, and Senators Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn
Donald Trump, former president and current Republican presidential candidate, is reportedly planning to speak at a major Bitcoin conference in Nashville later this month. This news highlights Trump’s growing embrace of cryptocurrencies and his contrast with President Biden on digital assets.
Trump Set to Speak at Largest Bitcoin Event of the Year
According to two sources familiar with the matter, Trump is in negotiations to speak at Bitcoin 2024, the largest Bitcoin-focused event of the year. Organized by Bitcoin Magazine, the conference will take place July 25-27, shortly after the Republican National Convention.
The annual Bitcoin gathering has featured controversial yet high-profile speakers in the past, including psychologist Jordan Peterson and investor Peter Thiel. This year’s lineup also includes Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Vivek Ramaswamy, and Senators Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn.
Bitcoin a Key Campaign Issue for Trump
Cryptocurrency has become a campaign issue that Trump is using to attract more supporters. “I will end Joe Biden’s war on crypto,” Trump declared at a recent Wisconsin rally. “We will ensure that the future of crypto and the future of Bitcoin will be made in America.”
This pro-crypto stance aligns with Trump’s efforts to flip flop on certain issues, like his new opposition to a TikTok ban, in order to broaden his base. It also contrasts sharply with the Biden administration’s lukewarm response to digital assets.
The Crypto-Loving Crowd: A Key Voting Bloc?
With crypto ownership in the tens of millions in the U.S., it remains to be seen how much of a role this will play at the actual ballot box. Either way, Trump’s planned appearance at the largest Bitcoin convention of the election cycle shows he is aggressively courting the cryptocurrency community.
