Joe Rogan is a well-known podcaster who has held onto his Bitcoin for nearly 10 years without selling, as revealed by on-chain data.
Rogan’s Bitcoin Stash Accumulated Years Ago
Back in 2014, Rogan shared a QR code for his public Bitcoin address on social media. Looking at that same address today shows that between 2014 and 2022, Rogan received 468 transactions and has not spent any of the Bitcoin he received.
This could mean one of two things – either Rogan is steadfastly holding his Bitcoin, or he may have lost the private key to access his wallet. At the time, crypto wallet technology was still new, with Trezor launching its first hardware wallet in July 2014.
In total, Rogan accumulated 5.24 BTC, worth about $226,295 at today’s prices. While a significant increase from when he first received it, this amount is relatively small compared to his recent business deals, like his $250 million deal with Spotify.
Rogan’s Thoughts on Bitcoin Over the Years
Though not a Bitcoin expert, Rogan has hosted crypto-focused guests like Andreas Antonopolous on his podcast in the past. In recent years, he has expressed optimism about cryptocurrencies, claiming the government likely fears their growth.
Rogan has also casually mentioned being paid in Bitcoin for comedy shows in the past. However, when it comes to NFTs, he is less enthusiastic, saying he can just have a photo on his phone.
The Future: Will Bitcoin Reach JRE Levels of Popularity?
While Rogan himself does not frequently discuss crypto in depth anymore, he has provided a platform for others to share their views, likely exposing his large audience to Bitcoin and blockchain technology. If mass adoption is achieved, perhaps one day Bitcoin will reach the same levels of popularity and exposure as The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
