XRP’s 354% Gain vs. Ethereum’s Decline: A Data-Driven Comparison

  • XRP Outperforms ETH Significantly: A $1,000 investment in XRP a year ago is now worth $4,540 (354% gain), while ETH’s value dropped by 4.6% in the same period.
  • Bitcoin Outshines Ethereum Too: BTC surged from $51K to $96K, making a $1,000 investment worth $1,882, further highlighting ETH’s stagnation.
  • XRP Could Challenge ETH’s Market Cap: With a 3X price surge, XRP could close the $177B market cap gapand potentially overtake Ethereum in ranking.

The battle between XRP and Ethereum ($ETH) is heating up, especially after crypto influencer Da Sheriff Crypto pointed out a staggering contrast in their performances over the past year.

XRP’s Eye-Popping Growth – A $1,000 Bet That Paid Off

In a recent tweet, Sheriff highlighted that a $1,000 investment in XRP from January 2024 would now be worth $4,540—a massive 354% gain.

  • XRP price in January 2024: $0.5384
  • XRP price now: $2.57
  • Peak price over the past year: $3.40 (Would’ve made that $1,000 worth $6,315!)

XRP’s rally has clearly outpaced many other assets, leaving some wondering if the token is poised to take a more dominant position in the market.

Ethereum – The “King of Stability” or Just Stagnant?

Ethereum, by contrast, has had a rockier ride. A $1,000 investment in ETH a year ago would actually be worth less today:

  • ETH price in January 2024: $2,778
  • ETH price now: $2,680 (4.6% drop!)
  • Peak price in the past year: $1,475 value on a $1,000 investment before a sharp 35% plunge.

Despite being a dominant force in crypto, Ethereum’s one-year performance is far from impressive, especially compared to XRP’s explosive rally.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin ($BTC) did much better than Ethereum, rising from $51K to $96K over the past year. That same $1,000 investment in BTC would now be worth $1,882, peaking at $2,156 at its highest.

Sheriff wasn’t shy about mocking ETH either, dubbing it the “king of stability”—a sarcastic jab at its lackluster growth.

XRP to Overtake Ethereum?

Ethereum’s underperformance has sparked fresh debates about whether another asset could overtake it as the #2 cryptocurrency by market cap.

With XRP’s skyrocketing gains, many are predicting an imminent flip. Harvard-trained computer science engineer Austin King weighed in on the conversation, calling out Ethereum’s struggles with inflation and lack of clear development.

According to King, if XRP triples in price, it could theoretically surpass ETH in market cap. Currently, there’s a $177 billion gap between them—but in crypto, big shifts can happen fast.

Final Thoughts – Could XRP Really Flip ETH?

  • XRP’s outperformance over Ethereum is undeniable, making it a prime contender for a market shake-up.
  • ETH’s slow growth has left many frustrated, with some seeing XRP as the next big thing.
  • A 3X price surge for XRP could put it on Ethereum’s heels, and with the way things are moving, nothing’s off the table.

Ethereum still has a strong developer ecosystem, but with XRP gaining momentum, the race for #2 is far from settled. Watch this space—things could get wild. The battle between XRP and Ethereum ($ETH) is heating up, especially after crypto influencer Da Sheriff Crypto pointed out a staggering contrast in their performances over the past year.
