  • The US Air Force has recently invested in SIMBA Chain to help with their Additive Manufacturing efforts both on the battlefield and at home.
  • SIMBA Chain will play a crucial role in securing the complex supply chain used by the Air Force.
  • SIMBA Chain was established in 2017 through a grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop a secure messaging and transaction platform for the military.

The US Air Force has recently invested in the blockchain technology company SIMBA Chain. The Air Force will be working with SIMBA Chain to help secure their supply chain and support their additive manufacturing efforts both on the battlefield and at home.

The Blockchain Approach for Supply Chain Additive Manufacturing Parts (BASECAMP) project will demonstrate the partnership. The BASECAMP project will use the SIMBA Chain platform to create a prototype that showcases a blockchain approach for registering and tracking additive manufacturing (AM) components during their entire lifecycle.

How SIMBA will help the US Air Force

The Air Force’s supply chain is complex and requires a secure system to manage the movement of materials and equipment to its forward-deployed forces. Blockchain technology has become crucial with the increasing demand for the integration of advanced technologies into military operations.

Using SIMBA Chain, the Air Force can decentralize its additive manufacturing efforts while maintaining data integrity. The decentralized nature of blockchain is an ideal application for the management of supply chains. This allows for real-time secure, and transparent tracking of materials, equipment, and other assets.

The SIMBA Chain platform, which uses Microsoft Azure for trust and reliability, will allow the Air Force to transmit top-secret 3D printing plans to forward forces without unwanted surveillance. The decentralized nature of the platform ensures that vehicle repairs cannot be tampered with by a third party.

Previous Collaborations between SIMBA and US Air Force

This is not the first time that the US Air Force has invested in SIMBA Chain. In 2017, SIMBA Chain was established because of a grant awarded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to the University of Notre Dame Center for Research Computing and ITAMCO. The assignment’s goal was to develop a secure, unhackable messaging and transaction platform for the US military.

The cloud-based, Smart Contract-as-a-service (SCaaS) platform offered by SIMBA Chain enables governments and enterprises to develop and deploy blockchain dapps quickly. The platform currently supports Ethereum, Quorum, Stellar, and RSK. The development team is on the verge of adding more blockchain protocols, such as Quant Overledger, Hyperledger, Ripple, and R3 Cord, to their cutting-edge platform.

It is worth noting that SIMBA Chain has received recognition for its innovative technology and contributions to the industry. In 2019, SIMBA Chain won the Venture Club Indy InnoShowcase19, sponsored by Elevate Ventures. Additionally, the company received TechPoint’s 2019 Mira Award for New Product of the Year and 1st Source Bank’s Commercialization Award.

The investment made by the US Air Force in SIMBA Chain highlights the importance of blockchain technology in managing supply chains and integrating advanced technologies into military operations. Using the SIMBA Chain, the Air Force can decentralize its additive manufacturing efforts while ensuring data integrity and securing its supply chain. The history of collaboration between the Air Force and SIMBA Chain highlights the effectiveness of the technology and its ability to meet the needs of the military.
