- Elon Musk apologized for his online attacks on Trump, calling them “too far”; Trump responded positively but cautiously.
- Their feud stemmed from Musk’s criticism of Trump’s legislative priorities and past associations.
- Trump said he’s open to reconciliation but is focused on “straightening out the country” first.
President Donald Trump had a surprisingly mellow response to Elon Musk’s apology after the tech billionaire admitted he “went too far” in criticizing the president last week. In a quick phone chat with The Post, Trump said, “I thought it was very nice that he did that,” though he stopped short of confirming whether he’s ready to forgive and move on.
A Spat That Escalated Quickly
Musk, 53, had gone on a fiery rant on social media, claiming Trump wouldn’t have won the 2024 election without his support and even implying he had links to the suppression of Epstein-related documents. He has since walked those comments back, posting on X, “I regret some of my posts… They went too far,” and deleting the more inflammatory ones.
From Allies to Awkward Frenemies?
Trump, who previously accused Musk of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” hinted at being disappointed but not vengeful. While he had threatened to look into Musk’s government contracts, he told The Post he holds “no hard feelings” and added, “I think he feels very badly that he said that.”
On Pod Force One, Trump added, “I guess I could” reconcile with Musk, but emphasized that his priority is fixing the country, not patching up personal spats.
