A surge in non-fungible token (NFT) activity has taken place on Telegram, driven by increased engagement from users involved in Web3 gaming. A report by Helika, a Web3 data provider, highlighted a significant 400% increase in NFT transfers within the messaging app during the third quarter of 2024. In July, fewer than 200,000 unique wallets were transferring NFTs daily, but by September, this number had skyrocketed to over one million.

Helika’s “Q3 ‘24 Telegram Games Report” also noted that Telegram gamers are not only creating wallets but actively buying, selling, and using NFTs within games. The report indicated a vibrant level of interaction in the platform’s ecosystem, with three million active wallets recorded across nine Telegram games in September alone.

Extended Gaming Sessions and Increased NFT Use

The data showed that Telegram’s gaming community is becoming more engaged, with users playing for longer periods. The average gaming session rose from 2.8 minutes in August to 6.7 minutes by early October. Helika credited this growth to more immersive experiences provided by the platform, which has led to higher engagement levels.

Among the most popular games on Telegram is Hamster Kombat, a viral game with over 300 million users. On September 25, Hamster Kombat announced plans to integrate NFTs into its gameplay, marking a significant step toward deepening Web3 interactions within the game. The new in-game NFTs will launch in Season 2 this November, with future expansions planned into 2025.

As part of its roadmap, Hamster Kombat will introduce new games in its ecosystem alongside the integration of NFTs. A recent trailer for Season 2 teased an exciting new storyline, where players will have the opportunity to act as CEOs of their own companies, further merging gaming with real-world elements.
