  • The game has partnered with some of the biggest creators and streamers like Ninja, TimTheTatman, and Scump for its marketing campaign.
  • Off the Grid allows players to trade in-game items on a peer-to-peer platform similar to an NFT ecosystem, though the developers stress that these blockchain elements are optional.

Gameplay Overview

Off The Grid combines elements of extraction shooters and battle royales. 150 players land on a map with the goal of being the last one standing. As they explore, they collect Cyberlimbs to enhance their character from a selection of 300 weapon combinations. Matches take place across different maps.

Crypto and Blockchain Backing

Off The Grid has raised close to $100 million in investments from crypto and blockchain companies. This backing is due to the game’s integrated peer-to-peer trading platform similar to an NFT ecosystem. However, the developer Gunzilla Games stresses these elements are optional. They promise to never sell NFTs directly or hide content behind paywalls.

Reception So Far

Available in early access on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Off The Grid has started strong. The recent marketing push has brought mainstream attention. Partnerships with top streamers have been key. With its innovative features and solid foundations, Off The Grid looks poised for success. The crypto connections may give some gamers pause, but the optional nature should alleviate concerns.

Conclusion

Off The Grid brings a fresh cyberpunk style and crypto backing to the popular extraction royale genre. Big streamers are already onboard.
