Apple announced new PC chips, MacBook Pro laptops, and a new iMac model at an event on Monday. The new products come ahead of the holiday shopping season and aim to refresh Apple’s Mac lineup, which saw declining sales last quarter.

New M3 Chip Lineup

Apple unveiled three new chips under its M3 family:

  • M3: Entry-level chip with 8-core CPU and up to 10-core GPU
  • M3 Pro: Faster chip with 12-core CPU and 18-core GPU
  • M3 Max: Most powerful chip with 16-core CPU and up to 40-core GPU for AI

The M3 chips deliver faster speeds, longer battery life, and more power efficiency compared to prior Apple silicon chips. The GPUs are up to 18x faster than M2, while the CPUs are 15% faster for intensive workloads.

Updated MacBook Pros

The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models now come equipped with the latest M3 Pro or M3 Max chips. Prices start at $1,999 for 14-inch and $2,499 for 16-inch.

Apple also added a new $1,599 entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the base M3 chip. This replaces the previous $1,999 model with a faster chip.

The higher-end MacBook Pros are now offered in a new Space Black colorway with fingerprint-resistant coating. All models include an HDMI port, SD card slot, and multiple USB-C ports.

New 24-inch iMac

Apple refreshed its 24-inch iMac desktop with the new M3 chip. The all-in-one computer starts at $1,299, replacing the previous M1-based model.

The new Macs will be available for order next week, while the M3 Max models ship later in November. The product launches aim to boost Mac sales during the holidays after a decline last quarter.
