  • Coffeezilla released a series of videos claiming that Youtuber and boxer, Logan Paul, was involved in fraudulent behavior with his NFT project, CryptoZoo.
  • CryptoZoo is an NFT game in which players, called “ZooKeepers,” purchase egg NFTs with “zoo coins” and hatch them for real-world benefits.
  • Logan Paul has published a video refuting these claims, stating that he “unknowingly” employed several crooks and con artists responsible for developing CryptoZoo.

Coffeezilla, or Stephen Findeisen, an investigative YouTube journalist, recently published a series of videos accusing YouTuber and boxer Logan Paul of engaging in fraudulent behavior with his NFT game, CryptoZoo, last week.

The videos were part of a series that Coffeezilla posted to bring attention to the fraud behind the Play-To-Earn game, which led the video with the title, “Investigating Logan Paul’s Biggest Fraud,” to generate a lot of buzz in the cryptocurrency community.

According to the claims made by the investigative journalist, Logan Paul’s team did not spend $1 million building the game; instead, they merely lifted some code from FlokiShibX and presented it as their original creation. Coffeezilla claimed that “people bought advertisements and promises” while underlining that investors have lost millions of dollars due to the hoax.

CrptoZoo – The Controversial Play-To-Earn Game

CryptoZoo is an NFT-based game in which the players spend a form of currency called “zoo coins,” Players use these coins to purchase egg NFTs, which then develop into different kinds of animals. After those animals have successfully hatched, players can breed them to create hybrid animals; the more unusual the hybrid, the greater the daily output of zoo coins.

The game is designed to act as a passive revenue source, as players can turn their zoo coins into real-world currency and profit from playing a video game requiring relatively little effort.

The official website for the game describes CryptoZoo as an “autonomous ecosystem that allows ZooKeepers to buy, sell, and trade exotic animals and hybrids.” Regarding the match, Logan Paul referred to the project as “just a great fun game that earns you money.”

Even though fans of Logan Paul have put thousands of dollars into the “play-to-earn” game, it has never been possible to play it in its entirety. Since the game was launched in September 2021, Paul’s supporters have been able to spend a total of $2.5 million (£2 million) on eggs.

This drove the real-world value of the cryptocoin to a high of $2 billion (£1.6 billion) at a point in time. However, despite all the money spent, the players have not yet been able to breed their hatched creatures or cash out on real-world returns.

Logan Paul’s Response to Coffeezilla

After Coffeezilla made the accusations, Logan Paul posted a video on Wednesday with the tagline, “My Response to Coffeezilla’s Cheating Allegations.”

The video was uploaded to Logan Paul’s channel, where he refuted all the charges and said that he “unknowingly” employed several crooks and con artists responsible for developing CryptoZoo.

After speaking with the developer “Z” (an engineer who worked on CryptoZoo), he elaborated on the claims made by the investigative journalist. The boxer divulged the identity of “Z” as being none other than Zack Kelling, who had been arrested in the past for engaging in dishonest acts.

According to Logan’s explanation, the CryptoZoo team only comprised three engineers, in contrast to the fifty that Z claimed to have in the Coffeezilla video. Logan revealed that Coffeezilla was only bent on furthering his agenda by not fact-checking “Z” before posting his findings.

Logan Paul Threatens Legal Action

In his response video, which aired on January 4, Logan Paul further undermined the credibility of multiple respondents by characterizing Findeisen (Coffeezilla) as a “lopsided journalist with a twisted agenda.”

The former boxer has also hinted that he may pursue legal action against Findeisen, alleging that the latter’s claims are not founded on facts and are not supported by significant evidence.

No lawsuit has been filed on Logan Paul’s end yet. Nevertheless, prospective CryptoZoo investors might need to keep their fingers on the project’s pulse to acquire additional information.
